Jethro Tull Thick As A Brick was the best album of 1972. It was a hard choice though because there were so many great albums that year.

I've only got eight of the albums on this list, of which my favourite is Argus. Some I've never heard of (Big Star ?). My list from '72 would include "Be Good to Yourself at Least Once a Day" by Man & "First Base" by Babe Ruth. Also "Friendliness" by Stackridge 'tho that's not exactly rockin' guitar music whereas Man & Babe Ruth def' are imho...
