Vanguard Records is proud to announce the reissue of classic recordings available exclusively on Record Store Day – April 19, 2014. The albums were selected after a voting process on VanguardRecords.com and RecordStoreDay.com. Below are the four titles selected. These recordings have been newly re-mastered from the original tapes by David Glasser at Airshow Mastering and are presented in ‘exact replica’ LP packages.
This August, songwriting legends John Fogerty and Jackson Browne will co-headline two east coast concerts. The shows will take place on August 4 at PNC in Holmdel, New Jersey and Jones Beach in Wantagh, NY on August 5. Fogerty and Browne will each perform full sets with their respective bands. The two recently joined up for last year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductions where they helped celebrate the music of Randy Newman.
Popular Bachelorette contestant (and recent newlywed) Ty Brown has launched a Pledge Music campaign to garner support for his forthcoming debut album. Fans of Brown have the chance to pledge money and receive exclusive “thank you’s” such as a concert at their home, a bonfire sing-a-long, signed merchandise and more. Says Brown, “I am so excited about this new album, and since I got so much support while I was on the Bachelorette, I thought it would be fun to give people who enjoy my music a chance to be part of the process with me.”
Rising singer-songwriter-guitarist Arielle has announced the release of her debut music video "California." The video features Arielle visiting some of the 31st state's most beautiful scenery (including the light-laced City of Angels) while singing that she "can't find the sunshine in California." "I didn’t fit in," says Arielle of the feeling she had growing up and later, trying to find her footing in music.
Dark and driven, The Wytches consist of vocalist/guitarist Kristian Bell, bassist Dan Rumsey, and drummer Gianni Honey. Their unique sound full of echo and heavy riffs is a narcotic haze with influences ranging from Leonard Cohen to Black Sabbath. Below, watch the band in rare form; a stripped acoustic performance held in an Austin, TX backyard.
Known for his production work on Nirvana's Nevermind, and as a member of the chart-topping group Garbage, Butch Vig's latest project, Emperors of Wyoming, will get their first US release thanks to Liaison Music. The 10 songs from the band's original European release all appear, but the Emperors added three new songs for the American release and re-mixed other tracks. Engineer-mixer Alex Smolinski and singer-guitarist Kim Henry are now part of the working group.
Detroit-based pop-punk band Fireworks are the subject of photographer Ryan Russell's latest "Nervous Energies" video session. The song, "Run, Brother, Run," is taken from the band's newest album Oh, Common Life, which was released March 25th. Composed of vocalist David Mackinder, lead guitarist Brett Jones, guitarist Chris Mojan, bassist Kyle O'Neil and keyboardist Adam Mercer, Fireworks is a band filled with electric personalities and endless influences.
Charlie Daniels, best known for his No. 1 country hit "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," is set to release a new album, Off The Grid - Doin’ It Dylan, on April 1, 2014. The new album, a tribute to Bob Dylan, is another example of the seemingly endless reservoirs of musical creativity that the now 77-year-young Daniels draws upon.
In celebration of the release of their fifth studio record Let It Go, The Infamous Stringdusters will embark on a two-month album release tour. The band will also make their first appearance at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Let It Go will be released April 1 on the quintet's own High Country Recordings.
UK-based experimental pop band Fanfarlo will return to the US this week for a month-long tour in support of their new album Let’s Go Extinct. Recorded by the band and David Wrench in a tucked-away recording studio in North Wales, Let’s Go Extinct is, in many ways, the true successor to the band’s debut, Reservoir. Having cast off the colder, more synthetic feel of their second record, Rooms Filled With Light, Let’s Go Extinct is the sound of the band cutting loose from all expectation, and just letting whatever’s going to come, come.
