This is so right. Before I read this article I had been listening to the wonderful new recording of the Isle of Wight performance with
the Band which I was lucky enough to attend and the got out "The Genuine Basement Tapes" 5 CD set and was playing that.
Bob is the single most important and influential artist of our time. Self Portrait sounds more current today than it did back in 1970 because we have rediscovered the music that was the roots of the music we loved in the 60s and 70s and as it is a much cleaner sound it is very easy to relate to it. Buy the de luxe set as the book is also very good.
