Here's a video of the Andy Timmons Band -- featuring former Danger Danger guitarist Andy Timmons, of course -- performing The Beatles' "Within You Without You" at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York City on Monday, March 19. Timmons and his band performed their entire 2011 album -- Andy Timmons Band Plays Sgt. Pepper -- at the show. Tracks included "Within You Without You" (watch below), "Lovely Rita," "Getting Better" "Fixing A Hole" and "A Day In the Life."
Guitarist Andy Timmons and his band -- bassist Mike Daane and drummer Mitch Marine -- will perform Monday, March 19, at Iridium in New York City. Timmons will highlight songs from his 2011 release, Andy Timmons Band Plays Sgt. Pepper, an all-instrumental affair that pays tribute to The Beatles' 1967 masterpiece, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
"Each Beatles album is great in its own unique way, but there's something about 'Sgt. Pepper's' that makes it stand alone," says guitarist Andy Timmons. "To call it a masterpiece is kind of a given. Of course it's a work of art, but what's amazing is the vivid feelings it evokes. Every time I hear it, I'm transported to being a kid again."
As an editor at GuitarWorld.com, I listen to tons o' music -- all sorts of weird stuff. One day in the summer, I even found myself listening to an album made by a bunch of nuns chanting in Latin. I'm still not sure why that happened. Anyway, the point is, amid the beatings my ear drums withstand on a daily basis, it's easy to choose my favorite albums of the year; they're the ones I found myself listening to over and over again.
