Hey Andy
Thanks for this. Jeff is the man! I consider myself somewhat of an expert on him but you've nailed it.
Back in 76 I got to watch him from a couple of feet away. He was mixing up all those great techniques at the same time. He was still using a pick back then but grabbed notes with his extra fingertips too. he was also using a short slide bar that fit neatly into the middle segment of his finger so he could finger notes AND slide with that same finger.
Today, Jeff's right hand thumb is a weapon of mass destruction! When I saw him in 2001, his thumb played like a flamenco player wired on space juice. I placed my hand in his handprint at The Guitar Center in Hollywood and his thumb size looked diabolical! Thanks again.
