PARKWOOD IS A NEW ACOUSTIC COMPANY seeking to make a splash in the affordable-import market. The 360M is a striking entry with appointments that are usually found on much more expensive instruments: a solid Sitka spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides, bound one-piece mahogany neck with bound headstock, inlaid rosette, scalloped 5/16 inch bracing, and much, much more.
Its open-pore finish is applied in several thin layers, allowing the wood to breathe and vibrate. The onboard Fishman Prefix Series system includes a chromatic tuner, an internal microphone, and an under-saddle pickup. A mono/stereo switch allows the player to choose between a single blended signal or a split of the onboard microphone and under-saddle signal.
The 360M came in a high-quality gig bag and was perfectly set up. No buzzing or fretting out was evident through the upper reaches of the cutaway. Both acoustically and electrically, the Parkwood offered warm, balanced sound for fingerpicking or strumming.
