Yngwie Malmsteen: New CD Art Revealed

Yngwie Malmsteen has released the CD artwork for his forthcoming disc, Perpetual Flame, due out Oct. 14 — and all we can say is, "Holy cow." No doubt the disc will have some mesmerizing guitar work as only Yngwie can deliver...but that cover is something else. Your thoughts?

Perpetual Flame album cover

I think the cover is magnificent.I love it.It looks great,and is one of the best album covers I've ever seen by anyone.The covers image of Yngwie perfectly defines the classy genius.I'm sure it's going to be a real beauty of an album.It's impressive,and looks even more outstanding enlarged too.

I've always imagined Yngwie's fingers on fire when listening to the CDs so the image of fire is cool for me. I dig it.

Typical Yngwie cover

To me, this cover is just another typical cliche' type Yngwie pose complete with the pouty, smirky lips. I think that more imagination could have been applied. That said, I still think that the guy is great, and will buy his new album no matter what the cover looks like. I've been looking forward to this one for a long time.

Great player - hasn't lost a step - or any ego

Well, we can't expect everyone to be as selfless as Vai, Gilbert, Satriani, or Petrucci.

If he thinks he's on fire, it's halfway due to his ego bursting out of his head.

But hell, he's one maestro at writing instrumentals. Now only if he could write good vocal songs....

I coulda swore that Yngwie died in a firey car crash. Maybe that was a dream? At any rate, I haven't heard a Yngwie Malmsteen album since vinyl went out of production.

That picture looks like an age-enhanced photo of his last record cover, although, the reality is it hasnt been age-enhanced at all. Scary that he looks more and more like Iron Maiden's Eddie as he gets older.
