2012 is a year fraught with cosmic significance. Musicians and artists, more sensitive to vibrational influences than most, will benefit from knowledge of these heavenly influences. This year started with major planetary shifts that will continue to bring transformation throughout 2012. Jupiter, the planet of luck, expansion, and optimism, entered Taurus on Christmas day, and will remain there throughout the year, which supports the realization of abstract ideas.
"Each Beatles album is great in its own unique way, but there's something about 'Sgt. Pepper's' that makes it stand alone," says guitarist Andy Timmons. "To call it a masterpiece is kind of a given. Of course it's a work of art, but what's amazing is the vivid feelings it evokes. Every time I hear it, I'm transported to being a kid again."
Primal Rock Rebellion -- the new project from Iron Maiden guitarist Adrian Smith and Sikth vocalist Mikee Goodman -- have announced the release date for their debut album. Awoken Broken will be released in the U.S. on April 17 via Spinefarm Records.
Today, Styx released a new live DVD, Styx: The Grand Illusion/Pieces Of Eight Live via Eagle Rock Entertainment. The performance was recorded November 9, 2010, at the Orpheum Theater in Memphis on a tour that saw the band -- Tommy Shaw, James “JY” Young, Chuck Panozzo, Lawrence Gowan, Ricky Phillips and Todd Sucherman -- perform both these albums in their entirety for the first time.

This time, it's a cover of Van Halen's "Hot For Teacher," which was a very timely choice, considering all the hype around the new new Van Halen album, A Different Kind of Truth, which comes out February 7.
Guitarist and philanthropist Mark Morton has donated a custom-designed and autographed Jackson guitar from his personal collection, along with the strings and Lamb of God guitar picks he used to record four of the songs from the band’s album Wrath, to the Myotonic Dystrophy Foundation to be auctioned off.
