The Ultimate Warrior -- a force in the professional wrestling world for, well, the better part of my childhood -- was among the roasters at Guitar World's Roast of Zakk Wylde this past Thursday at the Grove in Anaheim, CA.
Epiphone unveiled their new Dave Navarro Signature Acoustic/Electric guitar at last week's 2012 Winter NAMM show in Anaheim, California. Navarro visited the Epiphone booth on Friday meet fans and demo the new guitar, and you can check out some photos in the gallery below.
Guitar World visited the Ibanez booth at last week's Winter NAMM show to see two versions of their new Mick Thomson Signature model guitars. Slipknot are headlining the Mayhem Festival this summer, and Thomson will actually be using the black version of the guitar with the "Seven" inlay. It features a neck-through design and Seymour Duncan pickups. On the left in the video is a Blood Red budget version of the model.
Here's some fan-shot video of Annie Clark, better known as St. Vincent, performing Pearl Jam's "Black" this past Saturday night at New York City's Bowery Ballroom. The show was part of Portlandia: The Tour, as in Portlandia, the comedy on IFC.
If you didn't quite hear enough about Occupy Wall Street this past summer, a new compilation album -- aptly titled Occupy This Album -- will help you relive all the good times. The album, which will be released this spring, will feature music from Warren Haynes, Tom Morello, Debbie Harry, Jackson Browne, Yoko Ono, Third Eye Blind, Crosby & Nash and more. A few of the artists, including Joan Baez and Crosby & Nash, performed at the New York OWS site.
Guitarist K.K. Downing, a founding member of Judas Priest, says he wants to open a luxury hotel in the grounds of his home in Shropshire, England. Downing, who retired from Judas Priest last April, told the Shropshire Star that he plans to build 63-room hotel, indoor swimming pool, spa and a classy restaurant on the grounds of his 320-acre estate. There's already a golf course on the grounds.
One of the new models to be introduced at NAMM this past weekend by Dean Guitars is the limited-edition Dean USA DCR Vinnie Moore Vinman Koa. And by limited, we mean limited; only 15 of these guitars will be produced. Moore was one of many artists present at the Dean booth this past Saturday, and the UFO guitarist was happy to show off his new signature model. The photo gallery below features pix of the guitar and of Moore being interviewed by Curse Mackey of Dean Guitars.
As previously reported, Iron Maiden will release a new live CD/DVD titled En Vivo!: Live at Estadio Nacional, Santiago on March 27. Now, an official trailer for the set has been released, and can be seen below.
Guitar World paid a visit to Chris Thomas at the C. F. Martin & Co booth at last week's 2012 Winter NAMM show to get a first-hand look at the new models for 2012. Among them is the beautiful, small-bodied 00-45SC John Mayer Edition; Martin is making only 25 of these guitars.
