August Burns Red Tour Blog: Week 3
Each week August Burns Red guitarists JB Brubaker and Brent Rambler will be checking in with Guitar World with updates from ABR’s headlining U.S. tour, in support of their new release, Constellations.
Luckily, we’d been dating for quite some time before we got married, so she’s used to me being away. I got my one-and-only tattoo because she was afraid that I would lose my ring on tour.
We are about two weeks into this tour, which is the first of a monster three-month stretch. We blew through the middle of the country by conquering long drive after long drive. Texas was a blast, as usual, and the White Rabbit in San Antonio was crazy. There is just something about that place that is awesome. It’s easily one of the down-and-dirtiest rock clubs in America, but I think that’s part of its charm.
The 'Taken' Tattoo
After Texas we hit up New Orleans, and we were all very excited because we haven’t been there in ages. I won a stuffed animal from one of those claw machines at Toy’s R Us. Our sound guy, Jade, said it couldn’t be done, but who’s laughing now. Eat it Jade!
The Prize Monkey
After a stop in Birmingham, AL, we headed up to Nashville where we visited tons of friends at Rocketown. Once the show was finished, we left the venue and went out on the town with our old merch guy Justin. I love when we have short drives and we can actually spend some time enjoying the city.
We got up the next day and made our way to the Masquerade in Atlanta. The staff at the venue is always so nice and we knew that delicious catering would be waiting for us when we finished our sound check. After chowing down on some food, we took the stage. Sadly my earplugs fell out about three songs into the set and I had to go to bed with a rather loud ringing in my ears. Sucks.
We are currently in St Petersburg, FL, at the State Theatre. The Acacia Strain just started their set, which means I need to start warming up, which means I need to stop typing. Hopefully this show is as memorable as the rest. Tomorrow we hit the beach, which is good, because Dustin (Davidson, bass) could really use a tan.
