Black Sabbath Issue Statement on Drummer Situation
Related Content
Earlier this week, drummer Bill Ward broke the news that he would not being joining Black Sabbath on their upcoming live dates, citing an inability to come to terms on a "signable" contract. (Read the statement here.)
Black Sabbath have now issued a brief statement in response to the news.
It reads, "We have decided not to make any detailed comment on Bill's latest statement. There are two sides to every story. We have been working hard at rehearsals making excellent progress after Tony's treatments and we have engaged a substitute drummer for the forthcoming shows. See you at Download."
There is still no word on who the substitute drummer(s) will be.

This is just such utter bullshit! If Bill Ward isn't involved in the writing of the new material, it will not truly be Black Sabbath. His style is integral to the original Sabbath sound and you can't just plug in another drummer! I can't for the life of me figure out why the band would even want to do an album without Bill, unless Bill simply no longer has the chops. If that's the case, they should release a diplomatic statement to that effect and be done with it. Personally, I think they're just being greedy and while $haron claims she isn't responsible because she only manages Ozzy, she still has the ball in her court and we all know that she's only about the almighty buck. Tony is the only one who can really stand up to her and despite his recent health problems, I sure wish he would because you can't do the reunion without Tony, either. Shame on Ozzy and Tony for not having Bill's back. Geezer, I'm sure, is powerless because they'd probably "replace" him in a heartbeat, too, which is equally absurd. Unfortunately for Mr. Ward, even if all the hardcores boycott said album and tour, casual fans who know the music but are oblivious to the members' names will still fill all the seats on the tour, thus justifying Bill's absence in the minds of the greedy decision makers. What a sorry shame that it isn't about the music. Where is the band's respect for their own legacy?
TRUE SABBATH FANS STAND IN SOLIDARITY WITH BILL WARD! BOYCOTT ANY NEW SABBATH ALBUM/TOUR THAT DOESN'T INCLUDE MR. WARD!!! CAN I GET A F*CKING AMEN?
