Carlos Santana will release Shape Shifter, his 36th album and first for his new label, Starfaith Records, on May 15. The album, which features 13 tracks, is mostly instrumental; only one song features vocals by Andy Vargas and Tony Lindsay. Most of the compositions are original songs Santana has been saving for an instrumental project.
Ringo Starr has announced that there will be another All Starr Band tour this summer, and he's named the new band lineup. This time around, the band will include Starr, Todd Rundgren, Gregg Rolie (Santana), Steve Lukather (Toto), Richard Page (Mr. Mister), Mark Rivera and Gregg Bissonette.
Eagle Rock Entertainment will release Santana Live At Montreux 2011 as a 2DVD set and on Blu-ray on February 21. The 23-track DVD was filmed in high-definition and recorded in DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital 5.1 and LPCM Stereo.

Y2K bugs notwithstanding, 1999 was a payoff year for patient music fans. Several artists made comebacks -- perhaps fearful they only had a few months before computer systems would revert back to the year 1900, and CD players would explode.
“I know I’m not the kind of person who’s gonna wind up a walking jukebox, like many rock ‘n’ roll artists,” says Carlos Santana. “They just play their hits and that’s it. That doesn’t appeal to me. I don’t wanna just go out and play ‘Black Magic Woman’ and ‘Oye Como Va’ all night because that was part of the seventies, and my watch says it’s 1988. So I wanna get into ’88 and not look back.”
