Will the CD-ROM run on a Mac?
Yes. The CD-ROM is equipped to run on both Macs and PCs. We support Mac OS 9 and OS X, and Windows 2000 and XP.
I'm running Microsoft Windows 98, is that why the CD-ROM won't work?
Since Microsoft no longer supports Windows 98, we do not test on that platform, and therefore cannot guarantee that the CD-ROM will work on Windows 98. Even if the interface won't work, you can still access the CD-ROM's audio content, just like any other audio CD, from a regular stereo or from your computer's media player. You can also access the video content (.mpg files) directly from the CD-ROM. Simply open your media player, and navigate to the media/video folder on the CD-ROM.
The disc launches my media player, and I only see the audio files. Where are the video files?
If your machine has more than one drive, test the CD-ROM in each drive.
For Mac users: When you put the CD-ROM in your Mac, two disc images will appear on your desktop: one for the audio called "Audio CD," and one for the interface called "GuitarWorld." Double-click the "GuitarWorld" disc, and then double-click "GW for OS X" or "GW for OS 9" (depending on your operating system) and the interface will launch from there.
For PC users: The Guitar World interface should auto-run, unless that feature is disabled in your operating system. To manually launch the interface, open Windows Explorer, select the GuitarWorld disc image, and then double-click the file "GW_Start.exe" file.
If the interface still won't launch, you can also access the CD-ROM's content directly. The audio files will play in any stereo or through your computer's media player, and the video files (.mpgs) can be opened from the media/video folder, and will also play in your computer's media player.
Do I need any specific plug-ins to access the CD-ROM content?
No. Everything you need is self-contained on the CD-ROM.
I've done everything mentioned above and I still can't get the disc to work. What should I do now?
Try testing the CD-ROM on another computer. If it works there, the problem may be with your operating system. Make sure you download current operating system updates to Mac OS from Apple Support or for Windows from Windows Support.
If you believe you've received a disc that has been physically damaged we'd be happy to replace it for free. Just fill out the Disc Replacement form.
