Featuring performances by multi-platinum artist Colbie Caillat, rock icons The Bangles, Grammy nominated saxophonist Mindi Abair, guitarists Orianthi and Richie Sambora, the event celebrated women in music.
“There was really no magic to it,” Deftones guitarist Stephen Carpenter says about the writing process behind his band’s upcoming seventh studio album and the follow up to 2010’s Diamond Eyes. “We pretty much did what we always do. If I were to describe a day of writing songs, it would start off by saying hello to everyone, rolling a couple joints, getting real high, jamming out for a little bit, stopping, smoking some more and then playing again.”
Deftones frontman Chino Moreno must be hitting a creative peak in his career. First, Deftones are currently at work on the follow-up to 2010's Diamond Eyes. Then he forms a new project called Crosses with Far guitarist Shaun Lopez. And now there's Palms — a brand new band that sees Moreno teaming up with Isis members Aaron Harris, Clifford Meyer and Jeff Caxide.
Earlier this week, Deftones were in Helsinki, Finland as part of their current European tour. What made that particular date so special? The band were joined on stage by Children of Bodom mainman -- and Finnish native -- Alexi Laiho.
