Fans who caught Soundgarden's show at New Orleans' The Voodoo Experience this past Friday night were treated to a special guest appearance, as Down/Corrosion of Conformity guitarist Pepper Keenan joined the band on stage for the deep cut "Gun." You can check out fan-filmed footage of the performance below.
Over the course of 20 years and thousands of touring miles, the relationships that make up Down — vocalist Philip Anselmo, drummer Jimmy Bower, bassist Pat Bruders and guitarists Pepper Keenan and Kirk Windstein — have outlasted most marriages. “Tell me about it!” Windstein laughs. “I’ve been divorced twice! But you’re absolutely right — it’s like I’ve got four wives who happen to be guys.”
Phil Anselmo recently caught up with the San Antonio Metal Music Examiner to discuss the progress on Down's upcoming album -- or series of 4 EPs -- along with the departure of Rex Brown, Pantera, and more.
A previously unheard track featuring Pantera's Phil Anselmo and Dimebag Darrell along with White Zombie bassist Sean Yseult has now made it's way online. The track, titled "Dawn Of The Horrible Gorilla!," was reportedly recorded on tour in 1992.
Last night, at the ninth annual Metal Hammer Golden Gods, the best-of-the-best from this years metal class were honored. In the guitar field, Down's Pepper Keenan and Kirk Windstein won in the "Riff Lord(s)" category and Firewind/Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Gus G walked away with the Dimebag Darrell Shredder award.
