Here's a mega-photo gallery from the Sasquatch! Music Festival, which took place Memorial Day weekend at The Gorge Amphitheatre in Gorge, Washington. This one features photos of several performers, including Feist, The Shins, Wild Flag, Of Monsters And Men, John C. Here's the exclusive premiere of "Space Mosquito," a new track by Los Straitjackets, aka "America's instrumentalists." "Space Mosquito" is from the band's new guitar-driven album, Jet Set, which will be released August 7 via Yep Roc Records.
“Hmmm, let’s see now...the ’57 Gretsch or the ’58 Goldtop?” Joe Walsh contemplates a bevy of highly collectible vintage guitars strewn in open cases across the floor of a Hollywood photo studio. Broad shouldered and looking fit, he towers over the instruments, meditatively stroking his chin. A Guitar World cover shoot is serious business, and Walsh brings to it consummate professionalism that has guided him through over four and a half decades as a classic-rock guitar legend.
What happens when you want to record an album and you don’t have the funds or the deal to make it happen? Do you give up? Not if you’re The Fabulous Miss Wendy! Geoff Achison’s professional career began at age 13 in Malmsbury, Australia. Within a few years, he was recognized as an accomplished blues guitarist and started his own band, The Souldiggers. Taking full control of his career, Achison launched a label, Jupiter Records, in 1994; to this day, he continues recording independently and recently re-mastered and re-released his last studio project, Little Big Men.
Now that you've finished your axe, do you want to show it off? Feel free to post photos on our wall at our Facebook page. There are also some other cool sites for us CBGers. The one I use the most is cigarboxnation.com. It's free to join, and it's a great place for more information on building CBG and other musical instruments. You'll also find info on events, lessons and networking groups you can join.
In an era dominated by reunions and reissues, anniversaries and anthologies, you won't find Kreator guitarist/vocalist Mille Petrozza getting tripped up by looking backwards. "This is the most important moment in your life," says Petrozza adamantly. "It's not about what you've achieved in the past, it's what you are doing now."
Can you believe it’s been a year since this Guitar Girl’d column was born? To celebrate, I thought it only fitting to resurrect my favorite column of the last 52 weeks: my list of the top 10 hot male guitar players. Yep, last year when I broke this concept, I admit I was a bit perturbed by all those lists of hot female guitarists … with the word “hot” not defining their scathing performance skills. Oh no!
Here's a photo gallery of Tenacious D (Jack Black and Kyle Gass) performing at the 2012 Sasquatch! Music Festival, which took place this past Memorial Day weekend -- May 25 to 28 -- at The Gorge Amphitheatre in Gorge, Washington.
