Noone mentioned the wear your tube incur if you run the attenuator on all the time, which it seems to be in the circuit as there is no on/off switch on it.

For that money and with these paltry options you can get a Traynor and external attenuator and have about $500 to spare. It will probably sound better at gigs too.

On the lower end of the market Peavey and Epiphone have small wattage bedroom amps that will probably do just as well while clocking at around $200 each.




One correction. When set to FULL VOLUME, the attenuator circuit is bypassed. When the dial is set to SILENT the speaker is disabled, but the HEADPHONE and LINE OUT may be used. I'm happy with mine but I agree, it wasn't cheap.
