Whenever I'm at my local guitar shoppe i pretty much always improvise so i don't piss off sensitive guys like you lol... But in the event of you thinking my improvs suck, the amp i'm using is always on the like the lowest possible setting haha....

But uh back on topic... i believe the afro mentioned list of songs is pretty good.
But one thing that really annoys me is when a kid goes to town on the wah pedal while he speed picks 2 notes hettfield style.... ugh....

When does hettfield use a wah like that, examples.

To be honest..what I really hate, is when you're playing a guitar you can actually afford ( one you might want ot buy) and then some kid sits down next to you with the most expensive guitar in the store, and decides to sweep pick OVER AND OVER AND OVER......those people are just ass holes...no offense to anyone here who does that, it just annoys the hell out of me.

I also hate it when some dumbass-douchebag looking kid comes in the store and blows the roof off with some insane guitar playing. Nothing like getting put in place by your own misconceptions to really make you feel like a dick!

There's also Sunshine Of Your Love, any Black Sabbath or Ozzy Osbourne song(although I like them), Welcome To The Jungle, Sweet Child O' Mine, or Sweet Home Alabama. I like all of these songs but it's ridiculous how nearly anyone anywhere will play 1 riff of a song for 10 minutes straight and call it a song. Play something awesome and different like Satch Boogie or For The Love Of God, I would if I could do the solos.

I don't get annoyed when someone plays Sunshine of Your Love. What annoys me is when somebody plays it completely fucking wrong. I can't stand that. Usually that means I'm pissed off by them, because I have only heard it nailed perfectly once (by my guitar teacher), but lots of people don't even come close. They can't do the vibrato at all, the chords are wrong... and then they play the solo. Oh, the solo. That song taught me something about how the human brain can convince itself that something completely wrong is right.

some_girl@hotmail.com wrote:A lot of people seem to play the same songs, possibly because they think they are good milestones that will make you better at playing or will teach you a new technique? That's how I decide whether or not I want to learn a song, and also because I like it.

Within every group of guitar playing friends, I think they all kind of learn the same songs together...Kinda gay if you ask me haha. I have quite a few friends who play guitar and I don't really learn and play everything they do, but we like some of the same bands enough to learn their songs.

Also, I've liked Classic rock for years now, and metal and lots of music. Now that it's coming out on Rock Band, when I play a song people are like, "That's from Rock Band, omg!! I know that song!" Like...shut the fuck uuuup. It existed long before Rock band and even longer than video games ever existed. That shit really pisses me off...

I think Rock Band is an okay game...To play a handful of times within your lifetime. But that's it. It's cool it can open people up to some great songs and introduce people to rock n' roll and insturments, but it's still not the same. All of the songs I like are overplayed due to rockband, the radio, and other guitar players, then I start to hate those songs. It's rockbands fault.

Songs I hate being played on guitar:
#1: Sweet Home Alabama - Lynyrd Skynyrd. I jsut hate that song in general, makes me want to kill.
- Eruption by Van Halen, especially when people play it on the high E string instead of the B string. Learn to play it correctly or not at all, please and thank you.- Smoke on the Water - Deep Purple...Self Explanitory.

And when I go into music stores, don't fuckin sweep pick the entire time it's annoying and also considered as cheating. And don't play scales a 5,000 bpm the entire time...or your hardcore scream-o drop C tuning bullshit. (But CoB are fuckin cool...).

That is all.

Are you sure? I was reading the tabs for this song, and it said it was played on the high E. Also I was watching an Eruption video, and Eddie himself plays it on the high E. Smoke on the Water isn't that bad. At my music store, I started playing that because I had a tone close to Blackmore's at the time, and like three other dudes just started a jam with it. It was sick. We would swicth who does the solos, and stuff like that. That was really fun.

Back on topic: When I was up at GC, are was this one dude playing nothing but Red Hot Chile Peppers, on bass. From like a half hour all you heard was Red Hot Chile Peppers. The dude had the amp kranked. The floor was rumbling from this kid. I'll play a few riffs when I'm at the store. I just play Raining Blood and Eruption to get the dude who are in bands to go "DUDE! Thats sick!!". Stuff like that. I'll play Crazy Train, but without the backing track it gets boring. I'll play my own riffs from time to time. :D

Yeah, for the record, because I am a teenager, I'm always nervous when I try out guitars because I feel like everyone has this notion I'm going to be a noob who has no idea what he's doing. I play a lot of my own riffs, but I also throw in stuff I know...usually to test the one store clerk who helps me. He can identify like every song I play.

Yea, same here. I dont like to play the cliche songs, or most songs in general when Im trying out. I usually keep the amp really low, just in case im sucking and I dont notice. The guys at my shop tell me to pretty much krank it, but Im just like no thanks.

Today I was trying out an Ibanez seven string, and came up with a pretty awesome riff, and played some new Trivium, but still kept it low out of embarrasment.
