'Tis my last post

Postby shredinred on Fri Aug 21, 2009 9:11 pm

Cause today is my birthday and I'm getting my first driving lesson. In a Mustang. From a crazy/awesome dude.

I don't expect I'll make it back

Oh yeah, forgot about that. Did EVH do that? I can't remember.

Of course! He pioneered it!

I was kidding I'm not really leaving. I was sayin' I probably wouldn't make it past that lesson in that Mustang.

It was fucking SWEET though. It wasn't just a Mustang... it was a very new high performance Mustang. I noticed a Shelby tag on the side of the car, and I'm pretty sure it was a GT500. Which makes sense cause at one point I floored it out of a turn and hit 60 in about 4 seconds

Damn though, I was awful at first, but once I got comfortable that thing was fucking sex. The gas pedal was insanely sensitive, good brakes, it handled like a monster (though I suck at turning). I spent most of the day going 10-15 mph over the limit.

You suck. Big time. I want to drive a Shelby. Was it a new GT500 or a vintage one??

New. I don't know exactly what it was, but I didn't see any Ford tags, it had a shitload of upgrades over a stock Mustang, and I saw a Shelby tag... didn't spend much time outside the car though so I'm not sure. I'm just assuming it was the GT500. And I might get to drive it again tomorrow... Then next weekend I go with the driving place's actual owner who lets you take it to 100 on the highway

Did it look like this?

I can't wait till I get my licence. Though, I'll probably need an SUV or a truck to carry my gear.

I know what a Shelby looks like... And it was weird because it was clearly not a stock Mustang in either the looks or the machinery (the thing was loud and fast as hell), but there were subtle differences between the car and a Shelby.

The hood scoop was different than the ones I've seen on other Shelby GT500s, the interior looked different, and I don't remember the cobra logo on the front (though i could be wrong.) I think it also had different rims.

I think what it may have been is that the guy bought a stock Mustang, and then when he went to put in the second brake (they're required by law to have a passenger side brake pedal so the instructor can stop the car) he sent it to Shelby for the modification and had other work done as well. I'll check it out closer next time I drive and if I go with the usual go (I had his son today) I'll ask him about it.

Then I don't think it was GT500. It reminds me of a Saleen Mustang more then a Shelby. I probably have you all confused.
