And if you actually take the time to read the interview, you'll see that it's a good conversation between two guitar gods...no one really plugging anything or pushing their own agenda.

What if EVH actually doesn't plug any products in the interview? Will you come back here and apologize or will you just continue to be your usual douchebag self?

Really? Van Halen's sold out 2007-08 tour, which grossed over $100 million would suggest otherwise. Thousands of people who don't play guitar filled those venues. The only other guitar-oriented bands that have recently held tours comparably successful were Bon Jovi, the Police and U2. While those bands have good guitarists, none of them are as universally influential as Eddie.

That's because they are not there to see EVH himself - they are there because of the music!

People still want to hear what he has to say. If they didn't, GW wouldn't have him on the covers at all. Nobody would buy them. Obviously, a lot of people do buy them.

Ed has a few products for sale, but at least they are quality instruments (unlike a lot of others stuff), and its not that expensive compared to some of the Gibson signature stuff.

I hope both Ed & Tony are on the CDRom... BTW GW, isn't it about time you guys switched to DVD???

Ugh. I have like 5 issues from the past couple years with both Eddie and Iommi. To be honest I like Black Sabbath but I don't think they are the be all and end all people make them out to be. I like Sabbath better with Dio.

Eddie I don't mind that much but for a 30 year issue why you think Iommi and Eddie are the perfect pick for the issue is just wrong. Where's Randy and Dime? Those I can see being on the cover. I would be alot more interested that than Iommi and Eddie.. Enough already. Just cause you guys publish the mag, your word is not the be all and end all of greatness, neither is mine. But if you don't care about losing subscribers... You must not care what the readers think.

I would even say that EVH is more popular with non-guitarists these days. (Which could be evidence that a guitar mag should not cover him as much) I recently saw a thread about guitarists on a movie forum and EVH's name was all over the place. A lot of "greatest to ever pick up the guitar" stuff. (Hey...these people aren't players) And he actually has the highest rating on the "Rate it all" site.

Like it or not EVH is still huge. I'll bet the issue sells well.

Meh, VH is stale as hell. I can't help be be turned off by the prospect of paying $50-100 to be bored for the next few hours. That's even worse than the $10 I paid to see "The Happening".

Eddie had a good thing going back in the 80's, but that's where the true talent he had now resides. Everything else after that is just a poor mockery of ground he has already covered. Truthfully, the first VH record was always his best, and then wanted that shit tone called "The Brown Sound". Now if that doesn't imply a crap tone, I don't know what will......

EVH's early stuff is great to learn to enhance your skills as a guitar player, but as for listening to anything after 1984, forget it....


I also buy mags off the shelf for this very reason. It would be nice to see some NEW bands making headlines. GW IS a form of journalism, and I always thought it was the charge of journalists to report current events, not guitarists from long before I was ever born. Nothing wrong with bringing back an old guitarist from now and then, but come on... There have been at least 2 EVH covers THIS YEAR ALONE!!!

What about guys like Amon Amarth? Sure, not the most proficient guitarists, but even a GW article about them would be nice. Maybe an Opeth cover? They have a great following but are denied in favor of another EVH issue. As a fan of the mag, I respectfully ask this:

Please stop ignoring good current bands in favor of reliving the past. Save that for the legends issues......

What bugs me is that in a couple of issues you can bet your ass GW will force-feed us yet more EVH with another lame excuse like EVH's launch of new underpants
In the meantime, GW will no doubt come up with a new exclusive issue on dead guitarists

What's that have to do with anything? Pretty sure Dimebag was just on the cover last year sometime. Dead people are on the cover every now and then. Randy Rhoads, Duane Allman, SRV, Hendrix...You get the point.
