It's never been confirmed, but many reports suggest Microsoft's Paul Allen (the software company's right-hand man to Bill Gates) paid more than $2m for this guitar a decade ago...

The Marley guitar is a cool guitar, but because of the lack of attachment and the lack of photographic evidence I don't think it would fetch more than one of Hendrix's favorite guitars.

Yourdudeness wrote:Ok first of all thanx for the interesting story about that beautiful guitar.

Guys honestly you are missing the whole point on the value of this guitar, first of all step outside of the box for a minute, maybe Bob Isn`t bigger than Hendrix in the states but how many people live in the states? 300 million people versus 6,602,224,175 in the world!
Bob is indeed a MAJOR number in history and believe it or not he is more popular worldwide and appeals to a whole variety of backgrounds and listeners.

Second and MOST important point, that guitar is considered a national treasure by the Jamaican Government and thats the main reason of why it is priced so high.

Or is is Hendrix woodstock guitar a national treasure for the US GV?

probably not but it should be. :D . if the guitar was truly a national treasure as stated then you would think that the jamacian govt. would take steps to prevent the auction and make sure the guitar stayed in jamaica ( governments like eygpt routinely do). bob may be bigger worldwide but thats not the ?. is the guitar worth that much is. there doesn't seem to be much real evidence that this was a guitar treasured by bob. sorry but alot of what has been presented seems to be more hype than reality.

well the reason is that the guitar is not actually IN Jamaica, plus there is documentation with witnesses and it was a gift, anyway everybody is free to believe whatever they want I just enjoyed the story and I think that washburn its a beautiful guitar 8)

Hey guys, the conversations of page 3 were great. I enjoyed reading it and catching up until I reached page 4, just ignore this craig guy because he is obviously in this thread picking childish fights with everyone. For a guy that's 44 years old with a language IQ of a 7 year old, that's pretty embarrassing.

To Mon, Lua, & Dudeness, I never meant for my presentation to be a sales pitch. I was just simply sharing Sir Johan's story passionately because everything I'm sharing here is all real and true. I have a background in sales and customer service which is why I'm good what I do as I have the experience and for me to be part of a project of this magnitude is truly a blessing. Yes, I was quite a bit shocked too that the Jamaican government wouldn't do it's best to bring this guitar back as they've classified it as a national treasure. Sir Johan is another story, you guys would be so intrigued and be in awe if Sir Johan had the chance to tell you his story in person, but he is a very busy man, and sometimes hops in on other forums that I've joined to say something. Sir Johan has other things from Bob Marley that includes a handful of guitar picks & his autograph along with Junior Marvin as I've shared that in my first post where he calls Sir Johan "Gary Guitar". He is a very gifted philanthropist who luckily happens to be just like all of us, except, what makes him special is that, he is the only person in public to be given a guitar from Bob. This means out of dudeness' amount of people living in the world of 6,602,224,175, Sir Johan is the only one that stands alone to own the title. I know it sounds insane, but it's true. Mon, if you have a hard time believing everything, then, just wait for me to share Washburn CEO Rudy Schlacher's statement.

Yes, there's a lot of bull beep on the internet, but what I'm sharing is real & I'm real & Sir Johan is real. This is not Disney fairy tale, it's truth.

This is CANADIAN MUSICIAN, SINGER, AND SONGWRITER SARAH MCLACHLAN
AND Sir Johan at her foundation event.

To Jonny, that's cool your boss use to hang with Bob. I had to look him up on wikipedia because I had no idea who he is. Very interesting man.

To Slop_King, yes you are right, Sir Johan doesn't hold the title of his guitar being the most expensive because he didn't sell it. If Sir Johan had, then it'd be a different story right.

Air, there's no doubt Hendrix strat is also one of the world's most expensive guitars. Him playing the star spangled banner at Woodstock is well you know historic to many Americans. As one of the many Canadians, the guys up north that watches your back, we also see this as a momentous event in rock history.

Ah I am very calm, I am not your buddy and you couldn't push my buttons if you wanted too. The only one who brought anything upon themselves is you when I told you not to use youtube as a source to bolster your arguement, and then you go ahead and do it again. I guess they don't have sweat pants where you live or else you just don't know what you are talking about when it comes to clothes either?

Right.

I'm sorry but I have no respect for you at all. Something is seriously wrong with you. You need to get your head checked or maybe yet, a brain surgeon can fix you up, but I'm guessing it's already too late. Calling people half your age idiots, stupid, and a doucebag??? Most of all picking fights in an online forum?? You're too much. I just feel sorry for you times the youtube views Bob Marley has over Jimi Hendrix.

mark despite your more intellectual approach you haven't been much better in your dealings with craig. he's actually a nice guy and a big contibutor to this site. you might not use words like douchebag but your brain surgery joke is pretty much on the same level. so why don't we all grow up here and have a discussion. mark more solid facts please and less pontificating on sir johan. surely you must have known that there would be sceptics here that might need convincing that the claim you made in the header for this topic is true. yes i'd like to see the documentation from Washburn showing that this guitar was indeed made for bob as that is solid proof.

Couldn't have agreed with you more. But my opinion on Craig will never change as he has presented himself to me as a/an __________?? (too many). Hope you understand.
