PEavey Royal 8. Yay or nay

so ive been looking at small tube amps, i need something i can take into a dorm that doesnt sound like shit or is digital. Id like it to have good cleans and be able to accept pedals well.

its only 99 bucks now, my other options are the Fender CHamp, the Bugera V5, or saving up and getting a used Peavey Windsor Studio

That amp should be fine. Also Fender Blues Jr. works great with pedals in front.

I just ordered one myself. I'll let you know when it gets here.... Also, if you have a GC near you, you can take advantage of their lowest price guarantee. Basically what they do is not only match MF's price but take another 10% off. That is another way to take even more cash off of what appears to be a great amp. The only downfall is the lack of an eq on the amp. You get a gain knob, a tone knob, and a master volume....

But on the plus side, you get a 12AX7 for the preamp and an EL84 for the power amp..

There was a thread on the Peavey Forums (or was it Ultimate Guitar?) where a dude converted his Royal 8 into a head form. I think I reposted that somewhere here in the Amp forum.

I hope you can try that alongside a Windsor Studio. Great thing about the WS is that you can put ANY tubes of your choice.
