So I pulled the trigger on a valveking royal 8. MF has 'em on sale for only $99.99 so it looks like i can still have my sexy tube tone w/o spending a helluva lot. I was gonna buy an X2N for the douglas, but with this amp on sale, I couldn't pass it up. I'll have pics for you guys when it gets here (probably either friday or monday) Here's the MF description if you guys wanna look into this deal for yourselves (enter promo code BIGG for free shipping ): http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/prod ... sku=481661I'm kinda eh to the lack of an eq but that's what the metal muff is for I guess. What I really want out of this amp is the great clean tones that it has.... It's not like i'm gonna do anything besides practice with it anyways. But I'm kinda interested in it because it uses an EL84 power tube. I wanna hear how those bad boys sound....

nice. my Crate uses EL-84 (as do most class A amps) and i really like them. i run the amp clean with the Metal Muff and get soe killer sounds so it shold work fine for you. EL-84 have a very smoooth sound t them , think old brian may queen.

Nah, I'm good. My HT-5 is serving my low wattage tube needs just fine.

Good point. I'd take the HT-5 any day.

Well fuck.......
Despite having the available today when I ordered it, it is on backorder and I may possibly not even see it ship until Dec. 9th. I'm giving them until monday and then I'm canceling the order and hitting up GC.....

This is why I never order from Musician's Friend. I have have several bad experiences with them Now I order from American Musical Supply. Never had any problems and I love the payment plans they offer. Also....they tell you on the website if a product is in stock or not...and they tell you exactly how many they have left...and also tell you exactly when the order will ship...usually same day.

Yeah well MF DID say the product was available. The guy on the phone tells me that what must've happened is that someone ordered that same item a split second before I did and therefore they got dibs on the last one of that shipment. I call it damage control b.s. but w/e. If they don't have one by Monday I'm canceling the order and hitting up GC. Why I didn't do that in the first place has been gnawing at the back of my brain..... I've ordered from MF before without issue so why this happened is anybody's guess.....

So I canceled the order. No way in hell I'm waiting a month before the amp even ships. Sadly I may have to fold and buy a damn vyper 15 after all.

Dude, I have a Vypyr Tube 60 and it rocks pretty good. No way you can spring for the 30 watt Vypyr?

American Musical Supply and Sam Ash don't carry it..... I called my local guitar center and they pretty much told me that I'd STILL have to wait until 12/9/09 before they'd even get another shipment of them in..... So I'm stuck pretty much with a damn vyper.
