Tube screamer or mxr Wylde Overdrive

What do you think is better a tube screamer (any brand) or a MXR Wylde Overdrive?

I'd go with the original TS808, it sounds the fattest of any overdrive in my opinion. The newer TS-9's have more gain on tap, but you lose that fat warm quality though.

I had this EXACT SAME POST about 3 months ago, i ended up buying a Wylde overdrive and almost immediatly after buying it i sold it for a tube screamer. The Wylde just doesn't really do much for an overdrive on a dirty channel, it's alright for a clean channell though. I'd go with the tube screamer if you want a more vintage tone. If your lookin for a tight full modern tone, go with a fulltone

The Wylde Overdrive is just a Boss SD-1 with more gain available. So just buy $50 SD-1 instead if you want the Wylde OD.
The TS will sound better IMHO though.

THis query is sooo dependant on your guitar and amp combo! IE; when i play teles and les pauls through my deluxe reverb i find tube screamer and like pedals horrible...too much mid boost....now if i use my strat they work fine......i love the Boss Blues Driver...that's been the best OD/Distortion pedal i've found yet.....tone knob "OFF" ..the Marshall Bluesbreaker 2 is damn good too....but it's a smooth distortion rather than an overdrive!
