I voted for Plant, but Chris is amazing. This is how the final 2 should be.

Most of the people whos bitching here doesent know Chris Cornell stuff. Probably know Black Hole Sun, Jesus Christ Pose and Like A Stone.
Chris is such an amazing singer just like Robert, so there's no need to be upset for Chris being ahead.
Listen to Beyond The Wheel or Slaves And Bulldozers. Oh Chris also sang in Temple Of The Dog, wich is AMAZING !!

Chris's cover of Billy Jean is an incredible vocal performance. Moves me every time I hear it.

You'll just need to decide which singer has or had the most to offer within his genre and time period - Plant

which one has or had more natural talent or technical skill - toss up

which one had the biggest influence on other singers or rock in general - Plant

maybe which one was simply the stronger frontman - without a doubt - Plant

how is he not in the lead....?

Because other people disagree with your *opinion*..... is it that hard to understand?

Let's get a few things straight.

There is no doubt that Robert Plant was great in his heyday. But let's not get ahead of ourselves; he was the M Shadows of the 70's; iconic voice, but not necessarily more talented than his contemporaries.

Cornell was equally iconic, but he was far and away a better singer than the vast majority of grunge singers. He has great range and his ear for the best note is unrivaled among his peers, although it certainly may not seem so, since he does sing in the bands that he does.

This could be argued further, but it seems most of what is being tossed around is more or less conjecture.

The only singer I can think of who could try and stand up to "Say Hello to Heaven" is maybe Mike Patton - though I would have absolutely loved for any of the guys here to have collaborated. like Sound city Reel to Reel styles.

Cornell is beating Plant? This is a freaking joke!

I'm amazed that no one mentioned the greatest rock singer, Little Richard, never understood why he stopped when he did.

Layne Staley wasn't included. Bogus...

I think they cut out bands that had multiple singers, like Beatles (Lennon/McCarthy) and AiC (Staley/Cantrell). Just a theory though.

This is a joke isn't it? Freddie Mercury had more than a 2 to 1 lead late in the day and lost? The truth is there's Freddie and then there's everybody else!!! If you think Cornell is a better singer than Mercury than I suggest you get off the construction site and get some culture. Ever wonder why all the commercially available video of the Freddie Mercury tribute concert excludes Robert Plant's version of Queen's Innuendo? Because he can't sing as well as Freddie Mercury. Simple as that!

Just curious, does the 1999 in your username indicate your year of birth?

So let me get this right - if other people don't agree with your opinion then they need to get some "culture"? It turns out your opinion wasn't in the majority in this poll, no reason to cry about it, kid. Apparently a lot of people believe there are better 'rock singers' than Freddie. I wholeheartedly agree - Freddie didn't have the greatest rock vocals of all time in my opinion, but again it's my opinion and I wouldn't throw a temper tantrum in each page of this contest's comment section if more people voted against it.

After this, if they do another vote for best bass player and drummer, and they are all still alive, it would be nice if Guitar World could convince them all to recording some music together.

You guys expected the final match to be Dio vs Mercury? Yet you made the brackets so it wouldn't happen that way...

Wow, how exciting the final matchup is...Can anyone tell me why people voted for Cornell in the last round? To make 100% sure that Plant will win???
