Is it me or the August Talkin' Blues videos are missing from downloading? You can download them, but I think they are the september videos. Just an observation, thanks.

Hi Guys, can anyone please, please help me. I am from England Uk.
I have just taken out a subscription for Guitar World starting with the July issue and love it. However, the content listed above -
Mark Tremonti: "Ghost of Days Gone By"
• Seether: "Country Song" do not relate to my August magazine.
It kind of implies above that it should. The magazine hits the uk later than the US and I saw the Mark Trimonti lesson in advance on here and expected a tab of some kind. Ditto Seether.

Its got me panicking that the content in the UK Guitar World is different to the US. July seemed to be the same though. That is that the web content for July matched my July magazine.

I went to a Music shop to try and buy the sheet music book for AB3 but its not available in the Uk.

Can anyone tell me if the two lessons mentioned have been published in the US mag or is this website wrong?

I love the Magazine though. The website is good too, but confusing...
I think a forum would be really good too.

There is a company dedicated to publishing magazines digitally "electronica" (like a kind of PDF), the company called Zinio, when Guitar World magazine will be available in this format? I find it easier to buy the magazine online go to the department store to get their magazine.

Total Guitar and several others are already in this format, the problem with these is the CD of backing tracks, which are not yet available from the company that publishes them (Zinio).

I want to buy some magazines, late, and subscribe, but I do not want my room full of papers, and I think in this way is easier to archive the information and I can get it at any time either through my iphone or lap, when I'm traveling or when I have downtime: in food, in the bathroom, on the subway or bus.

I think it's great that the videos were coming in the CDs of past editions ARE their website, however it should sort by number of magazine.

They should also include backing tracks with their respective effects settings to play the songs they offer.

Greetings from Mexico.

My MAR 2011 CD was faulty and would not play and I requested a replacement CD (which never arrived). I therefore went to Guitar World Digital and I was able to download the MAR 2011 .mov content but the problem was that I was unable to PLAY the .mov downloaded content. I received a "file format error" when I tried to play it in the native QuickTime player and the free VLC Player. I was able to download and play the APR 2011 .mov downloaded content in QuickTime and VLC with no problem. I am wondering if there is a problem with the MAR2011 content available for download from Guitar World Digital. So basically I am unable to get the content for MAR2011. And no, I do not want to stream the content off Guitar World Digital. The interface is excruciatingly slow, and I have a fiber optic 100Mbps connection. Therefore, I am asking Guitar World to put all Guitar World Digital content in separate zip files and to place them on your server. I think it is only fair, since this service will be abandoned.

Hi Guitar World

At first I thought not getting my CD was ok because I could just play the lesson on line but I have to say I really hate it. I find it a really frustrating way to use the videos. Is there a way to permanently download them so you have them on your computer?

I realise you have considered that there would be a lot of bad feedback but would have made a decision you thought best for your business.

In the latest magazine page 14 says online there is an article about the 10 Best - and 10 worst - Comeback Albums in History. I don't understand why you didn't print it in the magazine for the people that actually buy your magazine. I have searched for it on the website and I can't find it.

This is about the fifth issue in my subscription. I was really enjoying it until you changed the format, now it is about half as good as it was.

At this stage I don't think I will be renewing my subscription when it comes up.

Mark, the 10 Best and Worst Comeback albums feature is here:

http://www.guitarworld.com/top-10-best-and-worst-comeback-albums-all-time

And you can download all the videos separately or as one big file if you go here:

Hope that helps!

Jeff - will this be a consistent URL for downloading all the media?
http://www.guitarworld.com/guitar-world-august-2011-issue-video-downloads Where we will just change the Month and (year)? 2nd question, can you post the size of the zip file so we can get an idea about how long it will take? Very Large Zip file is a little vague, but I am glad we will at least get the videos I just wish they would interface with the old application as it would be so much easier to manage that way. But I will take what I can get and deal with it. Thanks

Since there is no disc will I be able to watch the video tutorial from several months ago? Like I would if i still had a CD with it on the CD. If so....How do i watch the Disc Videos from previous months? or are they gone forever? For example, lets say i wanted to watch the tutorial of a song done 2 months ago...how would i find it? or does it not exist? Are the videos gonna be just for that month and then gone?

I really wish Guitar World would organize the website better, there is stuff everywhere very very cluttered. I find it extremly hard to navigate.

JeffKitts

We're always uploading past content from the discs...very little of our content would be "gone forever." If there's a specific video you're looking for, maybe do a search on the site and see if we uploaded it already.

Where are the backing tracks that accompany the transcriptions for the August 2011 Guitar World issue? Are they available online or did some IT tech forget to upload them to the website?

It was apparent to me that there were going to be problems when GW decided to omit the CD that was included in each issue though I figured you had enough time for work out the bugs (I guess I was WRONG!)

At least I was smart enough NOT to renew my subscription choosing to pickup the issues at my local store.

First Guitar Edge magazine disappears with NO warning immediately after I renewed my subscription and now Guitar World has stabbed it's subscribers in the back.

JeffKitts

We haven't done backing tracks for 6 or so years...what lead you to think otherwise?

I can not get some In Deep lessons to play online. Are they locked?

avatar

JeffKitts

Nothing is locked...could be the browser you're using or that your software isn't fully updated. If you think something might be wrong with a specific video, tell us which one and we'll test it out. Thx!

I have a perfectly good 20Mbps connection. That being said, I subscribed to this mag fully expecting to receive discs with the mag. I even called and asked the girl who answered the phone about the disc situation and was told there wasn't 2 options any more because everyone got the discs now.

I like the mag and the vids on You Tube, was expecting discs to be included with my new subscription.

Very disappointed. I would've kept reading online and watching the vids for free had I known I wasn't going to receive the discs as well.

Seriously yours.

Dear GuitarWorld,

Have you ever tried to download a video via an ISDN line? I'm willing to bet you haven't, and would you like to know why? Because, if you had, you would never have even CONSIDERED getting rid of the GuitarWorld CDs. As I gave up waiting for my video to download after three hours and a depressingly complete lack of guitar instruction, I reflected on how frustrating it is knowing that I STILL have to pay the same subscription fee every month regardless of the fact that there is no way in hell I'm going to wait six hours for a SINGLE video to download. I mean, come ON, in a world where you can buy a terabyte hard drive for under 50 dollars, is it really too much to ask for a simple CD? Please, for all the people out there, like me, who live in their little connection-less corner of the world subsisting on a steady diet of GuitarWorld instruction, bring back the CDs.

Thank You

We're fully aware that not everyone has access to high-speed internet service, but unfortunately we can't be all things to all people. The disc was simply too antiquated a technology and too limiting for us, not to mention too expensive to produce and bind into the magazine every month...as a business, we needed to move away from producing physical media every month (I know it's easy to think a "simple CD" costs next to nothing, but you'd be surprised how much it costs when you have to make and distribute 200,000 discs every month, knowing only a fraction of your audience uses it).

We understand the drawbacks for some users...and we always try to figure out a solution (like adding the download links for people who don't wish to stream the videos). But bringing back the disc just isn't realistic.

so are you saying that you weren't making money for the 5 years that you were packaging the CDs with the magazines? Apparently it was "realistic" because it was a viable business model for years. Unless the price of blank CDs has suddenly skyrocketed, then what you are saying just isn't true.

Bringing back the CD is not realistic nor is being fairly compensated for the money you already gave to GW for the CDs.

What happened to the software that managed the downloads and let you save locally? Why does it have to be so damn hard to navigate this site and find content that I am paying for. I am pissed.

We did away with Guitar World Digital, Aaron, and if you look at the top of this very page, there's a link to a page that houses all the download links for all the videos. That help?

I guess I'm the only one that doesn't have 20meg download speed. This is the reason I wanted the CD's. I have Frontier DSL @ aprx. 500k download, this is the fastest I can get. Way too slow for any video downloads.

Could I please have a link to download the videos for the August 2011 issue. I did not receive a disk with the magazine when it can in the mail...

...And yes, I have paid for the extended subscription of "12 issues & 12 CDs" when I renewed my subscription.

Thank you

Demand for a refund ! This debacle with Guitar World reminds me of Guitar Edge magazine disappearing immediately after I renewed my subscription only to be substituted with Vintage Guitar by the publisher which is no interest to me. I demanded and received a refund from Guitar Edge maybe GW will be a stand-up mag and do the same for you.

As soon as GW announced it was no longer including a CD with premium subscriptions I let my subscription expire. I guess I did the right thing.
