suggestion for the guitarworld team: do you remember back in 2006 when you did a riff by riff with kirk hammet in celebration to the 20th anniversary of master of puppets? you could do the same right now and invite kirk hammet or even james hetfield to the guitarworld headquarters to play a riff by riff with james hetfield. and kirk hammet would play five guitar solos off of the album.enter sandman, the unforgiven, nothing else matters, sad but true and wherever i may roam.
thanks in advance!

Thanks Jeff Kitts for the download links.
I was wondering what ever happened to Guitar World Digital.
I personally thought that was very slick and fun to use.
I would be willing to pay more for a yearly subscription for the
Guitar World Digital options.
Has anybody in the Guitar World staff considered that option?

To consider such an option would mean to resurrect a technology that you officially laid to rest. Believe me, it's difficult enough to end a program (which, you know, causes people to want to sue us :)...but killing it then suddenly bringing it back isn't necessarily any better.
And it's good to give people different options...but the truth is that everything takes time, man power, money, etc, and these days we're finding it better to keep things a little simpler and more manageable (and even that's a struggle sometimes!).
Thx.

Actually, we are suing you because we subscribed with the understanding that we would be receiving CDs. Jeff, it doesn't help that you guys have taken back everything that you have promised. Once the CDs were gone you said that the videos would be available for download on the website. The videos are now no longer available. You guys promised a poster in place of the CDs, which most people couldn't care less about. But from what I understand, there is no longer a poster. So no, we are not suing you for ending a program. We are suing you because you ended a program that we paid for.

For those of you not complaining or threatening to sue us, I put the July videos up on Hotfile...remember to space out your downloads. Regarding posting older videos to Hotfile, I'm only apprehensive because this is a free Hotfile account with limits to how much you can upload/download. If I can come up with a better, permanent solution, I will.
But for anyone who actually appreciates it, here are the July download links:

Hey guys, I protested pretty angrily when GW first took away the CD. During that time I knew that making the full videos available for download would only be a temporary solution to get people to stop complaining. As soon as the complaints died down they would stop providing the full videos. This has become a reality. I took a lot of crap for complaining, but now I see that we must do something. We have to show companies that they cannot treat their customers like this.
I will be contacting a class action lawyer this week. I'd like some help with this whole process though. If you would like to help me, please contact me at: SueGW2012@yahoo.com.
Also, please post this email address on any message boards where there might be guitar players. Let's get the word out!

Not the first time. The April videos have never been available for download that I can recall. I have asked that they be provided but my request has never been addressed. Is providing a yes or no answer to a question too much to ask? Apparently for GW it is. I would understand if 100s of questions were posted here daily but that is not the case. Normally no questions are asked at all. They just do not care enough to keep us informed or answer our questions on a consistent basis. The majority of my interaction with GW has been completely frustrating. From reneging on providing CDs with their magazine AFTER I already paid for them to having to threaten GW with legal action in order to receive an answer with regards to compensation for those promised CDs. The latest is the apparent decision to no longer provide downloads for videos. My guess is that GW has already made the decision to cease providing these downloads. They just don't have enough respect for their customers to announce it. They made the decision to just ignore our requests and hope that the whole issue just goes away. Jeff Kits effort to share the files will not last long. Another month or two and this effort will disappear and that will be the end of all video downloads.
GW has gotten to the point that I no longer consider it worth the aggravation, broken promises and disregard GW shows to it's customers to renew my subscription at the end of the year.

you are so right. they ripped me off for the CDs as well. no more video downloads. they must figure they are the only game in town, which of course there are many good guitar sites these days that want customers.

I notice that the excellent video from Martin Goulding - Last Licks: Open-Chord Riffs has NOT been included in June's downloads.
Each video of Martin Gouldings (over the past number of issues) also do not appear to be included in any download???!!!

some of the most punishing music thats been made. Love the angst of primordal existant we have forgotten. One must know one's own inner feelings of existance to know that one is alive.Slipknot speaks of that darkness in us all that of which we fear to confront.

I'm a little apprehensive about uploading all the old videos to Hotfile without a premium account...I don't want to risk having the free account disabled because of too much usage (my personal Dropbox account was suspended for three days after I put GW videos in there...again, too much usage). I'd still like to figure out a solution for the older videos, but the priority right now is to make sure you all get the current videos without too much of a problem.

Hi Jeff,
appreciate the links for June Videos. I don't see links for May videos anywhere. not even to view, let alone download. has that page been taken down already?

I can certainly appreciate your concern with putting up too many files on Hotfile. Putting up all files would probably result in the account being disabled.
I do not think the April files were ever available for download. Is there any way you could get those files up?
Thank you for your effort. It seems your are in a bit of bind with changing parent companies and your efforts with regards to these videos is apprecitated.

Yeah, I can definitely see Hotfile disabling the account if you put all of the older videos dating back to July 2011 on it. I'm wondering if there are any other options for getting the older videos (I'm wanting to get Oct 2011 - April 2012. I don't know if a P2P would be possible, emailing, or even just buying a disc with those dates on it from GW. Well, hopefully everything gets solved soon so we can get all the new stuff as well as have access to the old.

Can we get links to download the videos please? Also, if there is any way you could fix the links for the videos from July 2011 through April 2012 that would be very considerate.
