The November 2011 issue of Guitar World is available now, and it's a good one (if I do say so myself). First of all, there's the Big Four historic photo shoot, as represented on the cover and the two-sided fold-out poster inside (featuring James Hetfield and Dave Mustaine, reunited for the first time in years). Guitar World did the impossible, getting Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Mustaine, Kerry King and Scott Ian gather for a roundtable discussion about their music, history and the greatest thrash tour of all time.
Posters for the upcoming album from Metallica and Lou Reed, Lulu, have been banned from London's Underground for resembling graffiti too closely. The decision was handed down by Transport for London, the body that governs public transportation in the city.
Metallica fans in search of a new guitar strap would be well-advised to head over to Kirk Hammett's official website where the guitarist is now offering a line of guitar straps made from high-end Italian leather.
First a live blog, then a photo gallery, and now you can actually watch pro-shot footage of Metallica's set at the Big Four show at Yankee Stadium. The band has posted the below video, which features footage from soundcheck, the band's meet-and-greet with fans, the full performance of "Blackened," the Big Four jam of Motorhead's "Overkill," and more. You can watch the full video below.
This past Wednesday, September 14, was a historic night for heavy metal. The Big Four of thrash -- Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth -- took the stage at Yankee Stadium for arguably the biggest, most-anticipated metal show the East Coast of the United States has ever seen.
As is now customary, last night's Big Four show at Yankee Stadium featured a "jam" with members of all four bands -- Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax -- taking the stage to perform a classic song. Usually, the track has been Diamond Head's "Am I Evil?," but last night, the bands played a song they had never before played together: Motorhead's "Overkill."
The Big Four. Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeth and Metallica. Not only are they our November cover stars, but it just so happens that today, September 14, they're playing just their second-ever U.S. show at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, NY.
