criss oliva was an amazing guitarist who was highly under rated. how about a legends issue? gutter ballet, jesus saves, edge of thorns, sirens, etc. he's got plenty of great stuff to choose from. there are still lots of sava/criss oliva fans around that would buy that one.

I just suscribed a couple days ago online and it said it would take 4 - 6 weeks. Will this be my first one or will I have to go out and buy it?

correction: the good players are good because they are pushing the boundaries of music. they are unique, and they aren't shredding anymore thank god. hence, adam jones, not a guitarist, but an artist. not liking metallica and van halen is a prerequisite for being unique, so don't feel too bad, you're not missing anything. zep is classic though, imo.

savatage, finally some cool speedmetal tabs. And not liking Metallica/Van Halen/Zep, your life must suck. I love extreme metal to, i play bass/sing for a death/thrash band but there, is more to guitar/bass than tremolo picking and harmonics, the good players are good because they are diverse and have many influences.

I had a nice surprise when my issue showed up yesterday when it's not even due out until next week. I love getting my Guitar World every month. There's something for people of all genres and playing abilities to enjoy. No offence to anyone who is upset that their fav death metal bands aren't front page news but the mag is in the business of selling copies. Who's going to get more looks at the newsstand Hammet and EVH or some shredder from Ice Land? I think they do a pretty damn good job of having all genres represented.

I had never heard of this song before now, but I went to watch it on YouTube and it's insane. You should look it up; they're all wearing space suits and the bassist is incredibly good.

sounds like your life is an epic fail.
You dont like Tool, Metallica, Van Halen... Then what the hell are you doing reading guitar world?
This looks to be one of the best issues in a long time - "scarified", the most requested song has finally been transcribed! If youre a guitar you should be as excited as a kid on christmas that this song was transcribed!
Good Job GW!

*sighs*
i'm an avid fan of black/death metal, and i'm 100% sure that people will disagree with me, but why have these last few issues been sucking so much? i apreciate the carcass tab and the ihsahn lessons, but i don't like tool or metallica (or van halen or zepplin)...i don't even like the tabs (but i don't know who Savatage is, so i'm not counting them out)...
EPIC FAIL GuitarWorld...

But seriously your right van halen and metallica are old news. I'm kind of sick of hearing about them as well. Just to name a few bands that blow them out of the water arsis, skeletonwitch, sodom. EVH isnt even that good hes numero uno over rated in my eyes.

Not sure what "The occult" has to do with becoming a better guitar player. Guitar World is getting off subject a bit.

Why is Adam Jones of Tool on the cover? To my knowledge Tool does not have anything going on right now. Hey fredsrv, good question on Paul Gilbert.

"To my knowledge" being the key phrase there.
There are several projects in the making right now, just look on the toolband.com site. Their journalist dude, Blair, has said in multiple newsletters that there are several big and small projects going on right now and that's all he can say about it, they have to keep some shred of secrecy or us fans wouldn't get all worked up and excited over it.
