You're right Dude. That was a bad example. I totally respect and enjoy Clutch (I respect C.O.B., as well, but just don't care for their brand of Metal); I look forward to seeing them and they're no-nonsense Metal. I really like them because they're even older than me . . . he he. I'm totally old school but appreciate the work it takes to make a living as pro Metal musician. Anyway, I have to agree with camerowanna69's opinion regarding "The Big Four" . . . I wanted to hear more about ALL of the bands (though I've never been big on Anthrax), and yeah, yeah more about Mustaine's interaction with his former Metallica mates, as well as the guy who replaced him (Hammett, of course). So, I agree, the ummmm . . . "piece" should have just been left out, because, as it was, it didn't say nor show much that validated its inclusion in the issue. It only served to get all of us Metal dinosaurs excited about what really amounted to next to nothing. Come on GW!!!! (and then I really couldn't stomach the Avenged Sevenfold article . . . bleh!!! Though I won't disrespect them; they're just another new band that I can't dig. I think it's a combination of the vocalists emo-style and the overdone production. Oh well, a decent issue all together.

So, there I was, getting ready to relax and read some Guitar world. I was looking forward to the article on “The Big Four” tour. I personally may not be fans of all the bands involved, but I understand, and appreciate, the impact they all had on the metal world. However, I was a bit disappointed, and angry, when I had finished the article, before I had finished lighting my cigarette. Not only that, but does this guy also work as a meteorologist? I MEAN “COME ON!!!!!” I was more informed on the weather, before and during, the concert, than anything else. Did he ONLY watch Metallica, It’s the big FOUR! Outside of a reference to Dave Mustane, in passing no less, there was no specific mention of anyone else!!!!! Outside of the pictures, which weren’t that great, this whole article was a waste of space. I would rather have seen more adds that I had no intention of paying attention too.

This is a great issue. I really enjoyed the sneak peak at Dave Mustaines book, and the Zakk Wylde interview. The tabs are pretty good too. My only complaint is that Zakk Wylde goes way to fast in his lesson so its impossible to learn that song.

Haha, Clutch doesnt do a lot of crazy guitar shit but they have some pretty good hooks man.

The mag. cover should read "Zakk Wylde and Alex Laiwho" . . . never, ever should Laiwho's name be before Zakks he he. Just kidding . . . but I don't care for him or his band. I've been a Zakk fan since 1988, despite all the flack he's taken; well . . . he's still around and his new album debuted at #4 despite it being on an indie label. Anyway, I can't stand Children of Bodom, but in order to see BLS (or even Clutch) I guess I'll go throw back a few and take a piss while COB are on when the tour comes to town on Nov. 9th.

They havnt put out a good issue since the slayer issue. Thats a pretty fucking long down streak.

A cover is a cover. I've been buying Guitar World since the late-80's and it's gone through all changes in design, content; however, I sure was glad when the anti-shred, "grunge" era passed and we got back to focusing on ROCK guitarists with skills, although, I have to admit that there aren't many new bands (new to me is like the last 10 years given that I'm about to turn the dreaded 40!) that interest me. Anyway, in my opinion it is still the best guitar rag for hard rock/metal guitarists. Guitar Player tries to please too many and the other ones are just Guitar World light. Rock on Guitar World despite the occasional crappy cover story (John Mayer, he just digusts me in every way possible AND his guitar playing is NOT that good; I swear his record company and management pay off the media to praise him as this uber-talented singer-songwriter who is also a "guitar hero" . . . and he is NONE of those. Well, that's my unfocused two cents.

i mean u cant expect guitar world to put out great issues non stop i mean eventually there gonna have a down streak. BUT NO MORE ISSUE WITH JOHN MAYER!!!!!!! i was ashamed to get mail when i seen that issue. and they should put the fold out posters in the mag again

kingdime333

Hell Yeah its about time Guitar World made an issue that is worth buying.

dude_man0101

And zakk wylde and Alexi Laiho are d-bags.

avatar

dude_man0101

True statement, it's fucked up how they want more for less. The most fucked up thing is they don't explain why they have stopped doing it.

avatar

twitchxobf

What happened to the betcha cant play this??

avatar

freddiefingers

why did they stop the fold out posters?

avatar

hyuk17

I was wondering the same thing. The covers are all starting to look alike.

john1138

Just a question, Why have the past 5+ Guitar World issues featured just a plain white background? Is it cheaper? Just asking.

avatar

jcolby

Cool tabs, some cool articles, but a couple of douche bags for the cover. What a shame.
