Where's the "All of the above" button?

Who cares? The induction has lost its meaning when they started inducting artists who have nothing to do with rock whatsoever (all the hip-hop and pop sh!t). I will not be surprised to see something like Lil Wayne get inducted next year (even though he's been around for 2-3 years - he deserve an exception, right?). Voted for Iron Maiden, but I think seeing sold out arenas full of die hard fans is much more valuable for all these guys than an induction into a Rock and Roll Hall of Shame.

My understanding of the Deep Purple stand on the HOF was a quote by Ian Gillan the first year they were eligible to be inducted:

"A hall of fame or museum is for dead people and we are not dead"

The HOF's track record with inductee's is shameful and no act listed here should be under the same roof as most of the wankers they have added lately. Other than the required 50's/60's English and US rock pioneers.

They have lost track of the spirit of what I define as rock. It seems the whole thing went off the rails when they started looking at the wrong 70's artists.

The Rock and Roll or Fame is a complete joke! They inducted more RAP artist than Rock. Every real Rock Band should boycott there commercialized sale out shame. They inducted Run DMC before Rush, what does that tell you? They do not even know what Rock N Roll is. Personally I will never watch their tribute to RAP and Pop show and would certainly never attended that place! I know more people are getting a clue and ignoring the so called RR hall of fame.

Five finger death punch! they manage to borrow and recycle every riff AND chorus while crying about how hard being famous (and on the road and divorced and never enough) is and still being hailed as original tough guy music.
seriously, though, every metal band from bullet for my valentine to in flames has copped Iron Maiden's style and to this day Maiden is still rocking

Dude you're so right. They're the best thing that's happened to rock in the last 3 years. FFDP4L!

RUSH was my vote but . . .

ALL those on that list are representative of what the Rock 'n Rol Hall of Sham NEED to make it "Rock 'n Roll".
A VERY close 2nd, Deep Purple

I agree about:
Ten Years After
King Crimson
SLAYER
U.F.O.
Bad Company
The Dead Kennedys (and MANY other American Punk bands)
Heart

And . . .
Rainbow
Kansas
Triumph
Fates Warning
Dream Theater

I agree with daveotr. All the bands listed belong in already as well as a few more I'd like to mention...

Both prog and metal are looked upon as red-headed stepchildren by the gatekeepers of the RRHoF. So far the only prog bands inducted are Pink Floyd and Genesis (and Genesis more for their later commercial crap than for songs like "Cinema Show") and the only metal acts are Black Sabbath and Metallica.

All of the acts listed above belong in the RRHoF as far as I'm concerned.

That's a damn good question CJ. And Thin Lizzy too...

How the hell are the Beastie Boys and Red Hot Chili Peppers being inducted but Boston, Rush, STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN, and Deep Purple haven't??

guitarladd

Indeed, what a travesty! The Beastie Boys? And my main man Stevie Ray ain't in. Total bullshit! I would have thought Deep Purple was in by now. They aren't? Rush has been getting all the press for not being in but Deep Purple? What possible criteria could they be using to not include Deep Purple? The Hall of Fame is bullshit!!!
