Rhoads (left) and DuBrow, in 1977

Friends of legendary guitarist Randy Rhoads will honor his memory in an upcoming documentary, but Quiet Riot singer Kevin DuBrow won’t be among them.
DuBrow had originally agreed to be interviewed for the as-yet-untitled film, according to director Peter Margolis, and even provided private photos and videos.
“Four days after this great conversation in which he was enthusiastic and funny, I get this email that was almost like a form letter,” Margolis tells Guitar World. “And it reads, ‘Thank you for offering to have me in the movie, but I am going to have to decline to participate. I wish you and the Rhoads family the best of luck.’ It was so impersonal. I really don’t know what made him change his mind.”
DuBrow and Rhoads co-founded Quiet Riot in 1975 and worked together on the group’s first two albums. Rhoads left the band in November 1979 to become Ozzy Osbourne’s guitarist. He was killed in a plane crash on March 19, 1982, while on tour with Osbourne.
DuBrow’s snub drew a sharp response from Rudy Sarzo, the former Quiet Riot bassist who left the group to join Rhoads in Osbourne’s band. Sarzo, who wrote about Rhoads in his 2006 book, Off the Rails, and is a consulting producer on the Margolis film, says he hopes DuBrow and others who may have personal issues with those involved in the project will put aside their differences and work together to honor Rhoads.
“This documentary is about Randy, not about anyone else or any past grievances,” says Sarzo. “So if you really consider yourself a friend, come in and do it for him.”
Look for the entire story in Guitar World’s August 2007 issue, on newsstands beginning May 20.

Seems like 'someone posting' has the beef. The dude said he doesn't want to be attached to the project. And hasn't said anything else.
How much more stand-up can ya be?

Peter Margolis, the director of the Randy Rhoads Documentary, is a stand up guy. Peter was a student of Randy's and his resume' reads like a list of every award show and TV show done over the last 15-20 years. Peter truely, is not in it for the money. He's highly respected in the Entertainment Industry and Peter's only intent behind this Documentary is to remember Randy Rhoads. Kevin Dubrow needs to get over himself. While others fight to remember Randy Rhoads, Kevin just fights. Hey Kevin, you might as well face it your a dick with a rug.

I don't see why Kevin DuBrow would diss Randy Rhoads! Randy is a guitar legend! Kevin hasn't been much since Randy joined Ozzy. Kevin needs to take agood look at himself in the mirror and see who the real problem is-himself! He should show respect for Randy. GOD BLESS HIS SOUL!

Who cares what Dubrow's utterly valueless opinion is on anything...he simply does not matter. The film will be a smashing success in spite of his glaring ignorance...simply put.....NO ONE CARES.

Why has the writer of this article resorted to attacking Randy Rhoads friends? It's an obvious question. The picture says it all, but the article says nothing. Except, perhaps, Guitar World is desperate for Randy Rhoads articles and their journalist failed to ask Kevin DuBrow his motives.

Maybe Kevin LoBrow can join Eddie Van Halen in the sore losers club. Neither has done anything in years except badmouth other musicians.

I totally agree. More tabloid/vh1-ish sellout crap. STOP stirring up drama via nationally embarrassing people for their PERSONAL decisions. I already quit buying your rag once back when you singled out CC Deville and crapped on him for nothing. Keep up the garbage journalism and I'm out for good.

Let me guess; Kevin's back to being his disgruntled, attention whoring, cokeheaded self again?

This is just plain sensationalist reporting. It is possible that the guy is busy with another project and didn't have time to elaborate and hold the producers' hand on this one.

I agree wholeheartedly. Can we avoid GW turning into The Jerry Springer show and stick to covering subjects about music instead of sensationalism?
