No Call of Ktulu? Personally, i like it better than Orion... Maybe not above Orion but still on this list!

Damage Inc.

Pastor of Muppets...

In all honestly, I've heard that song so many times, I'm dead-tired of it...

How in the hell does Whiskey in the Jar make this list? Who voted for this crap? And let's stick with songs they actually wrote, ok? Yes that means no Am I Evil, no Blitzkrieg, no Helpless, no God-forsaken Bob Sieger covers. And with all due respect to good new songs like My Apocalypse, it just doesn't quite reach the level of their first 3 albums.

Top 5, not necessarily in this order(because they're all so freaking great you can't REALLY rank them):

1. Master of Puppets
2. Creeping Death
3. Battery
4. Fade to Black
4. Sanitarium

After these you can start loading in greats like Orion, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Fight Fire With Fire, Damage Inc, Whiplash, etc. Newer stuff wouldn't start cropping up until the 2nd half of the list.

2. Master Of Puppets
3. Ride The Lightning
4. And Justice For All
5. Blitzkrieg

Orion would be my personal number 1. Good list overall though. I agree that covers should be left out.

Personally I think the lot of you are punch drunk... I can't believe that someone who would call themselves Metallica fans would consider something like "one" over "for whom the bell tolls". Jason was a great bassist for the band but Cliffs work was SWEEEEETTTTTTT on that song. If you don't know Cliff's work, then get the f**k outta here and leave the comment section to the guys who have been listening to these guys since before they were famous in L.A. ....one???? really???

I'd put Trapped Under Ice up there myself

Dave Mustaine deserves more writing credit because he actually contributed a lot more to the earlier material than most people think. Metallica kind of ripped him off with that after he left. However I do think that this is a good top 30 list for Metallica.

I couldn't agree more

To live is to die should be #1

Master666

I think 'One' should have come first. 'Master of Puppets' is a fantastic song with one of the best riffs ever but 'One' affected me more with it's theme and lyrics. Plus it contains one of the greatest guitar solos of all time.

Your punch drunk.... posers like you have no business posting songs like "one" and "nothing else matters" on the top 30 songs. lord! wake these Jack wagons up and give them the growl of cliff burton's bass.... OHHH yea!!!! that's the ticket..

Blitzkrieg anyone?

Damage Inc.

Not really my order, and although it's kind of cliché to say 'Master Of Puppets' is the best one, it is really one of the best.
I guess to me it's just that I heard and played it too many times...
It's hard to kind of rejuvenate the appreciation for the song, to me anyway...
But I didn't play it that much for nothing, it's awesome and I fell in love with the sound of it and the album when I first heard it.
And just the particular speed and way the notes moves and what not was so catchy.
Also that it's quite a long track with an aggressive in-your-face riff and it has this beautiful calmer piece in the middle and then it builds up and takes off again into a solo and the rest into the end with maniacal laughing.

I vote one for #1. The solo kinda sucks but the harmony guitar parts are great. The rhythm guitar is INSANE !

Covers should not be included.

The first 2 for me are just right. I gotta tell you though, I hate metallica's version of "whiskey in the jar" and even worse "turn the page" Metallica is great but those 2 songs should not be touched. It would be like them doing "stairway" ewww! imagine that!

The Four Horsemen should have been top 5, or at least top 10!!
