Absolutely! A simple inch closer or farther away can give just enough difference to make the track sit better in a track. I could do a small novel on placement alone! Great point and thanks for commenting and reading!

And not forgetting the old important Proximity Effect, where the closer the microphone is to the source, the bassier the sound is (when using Cardioid/Hypercardioid response patterns). It makes a massive difference.
