I can't really explain why...but I just don't get the Beatle-mania. There's just...something...something I can't put my finger on. I suppose it could be like a movie that has improbable scenes to support an improbable plot? Like something a character did or said that he really wouldn't do in real life...but HAS to to make the movie work.

I'm not saying the Beatles suck. And I WILL say George is fantastic. But many Beatles songs sound just...off. If that is the appeal....then okay. I feel jilted...disconnected....like there's an intentional mismash just for the sake of artsy mismash.

I realize I'm in the great minority. I just wanted to say my piece...I will take either flamage or improbable assent. I will also blaspheme and say music would have survived without The Beatles.

Flame suit engaged.

Two kinds of people in this world: Those who like the Beatles; and liars.

mgordon514, Don't you think you're being a bit harsh!! After all music is subjective to the person listening to it. He didn't trash the Beatles, he just said he didn't get it. Like you I have listened to every note the Beatles put on tape with bated breath, the tone of the note played and the attack of the composition. We're talking music here not the latest NSA scandal.

Sorry about that. Just a joke I once heard. Gave me a laugh at least. Try not to over-think it.

SteveKK2112, Music is subject each persons interpretation. There are many bands and songs that I don't get the hoopla over. Some have even been heralded as the great classics of our time. You mentioned Beatle-mania, that part is just a passing fad, like the Biebers of today. As far as the music part goes, if you take their body of work, like it or not, you have to admit that as musicians they were ground breakers of their time. Start with "Love Me Do" and go to "The End", most of their songs progressed and grew in stature. Music after Sgt. Pepper was different from all bands in many genres. Recording techniques changed from their experimenting in the studio, say goodbye to the 4track! I was 10 when the first songs came on the radio, grew up in a musical household, my dads band had the honor of sharing the bill with Hank Williams in the late 40's. I feel bad that you don't connect with their music, But don't feel like you have to defend your opinion!!
