Summer is finally here! And with that, the schedule of album releases slows a bit, letting everyone digest the musical offerings of spring. One of the most talented and creative songwriters of ours, or any generation, Beck has been a fascinating enigma for twenty years now. Morning Phase, coming out on February 25, 2014, is a sonic sequel to his 2002 album Sea Change; the definitive acoustic break-up album of the 21st century.
As we mentioned in August, Beck will release his new album, Song Reader, on December 7, through the McSweeney's publishing company. Song Reader is a collection of 20 new, unrecorded Beck songs in the form of sheet music, intended for fans to learn, play and record.
If you want to hear Beck's new studio album, you'd better know how to read music and have access to a recording studio. That's because the album, Song Reader, is being released as individual pieces of sheet music. Beck wants fans to "bring the songs to life" themselves.
