I'll start this with a great day off in Portland, Oregon. Our guitar tech Milly and I went for a long walk in search of some Otter wax (to wax my jacket with) which I found out is made and distributed in Portland.
After some truly great Summer festivals with both Paradise Lost and Vallenfyre, it's time for PL to go and tour the U.S.A. and Canada. We are touring with our old mates Katatonia and our newer mates The Devin Townsend Project.
While the other guys stayed in beautiful Bradford for a day off, I ventured to Oxford where I used to live for one and a half years. Nice city with great pubs, but also lots of posh students and tourists.
Sheffield Corporation. Nice venue with good backstage and a great pub just 50 meters up the street. We’ve played here at least two times before so it should be a good night. First things first: few drinks and quick visit to toilet facilities at local pub.
I thought I would talk a little bit about different recording techniques from my experience and point of view, and also a little bit about gear, amongst other things. I have just released the debut album by Vallenfyre, and I am currently writing this column whilst holed up in the Chapel studios, UK while I record the new Paradise Lost album.
