Last week, former Led Zeppelin bassist John Paul Jones joined former members of R.E.M. on stage in Norway to perform Led Zeppelin's “When the Levee Breaks.” That performance, which you can check out below, took place as part of a “mini festival” called Ice Station in Vadsø, Norway.
When Labor Day came and went earlier this month, it reminded us of the American labor movement and the contributions American workers have made to the strength, prosperity and well-being of the good ol' U.S. of A. However, since we're Guitar World people, we couldn't help but apply those sentiments to music and the American people who made and make it—bands!
It was less than a week ago, so of course I remember where I was when I found out that my favorite band had broken up. However, I don’t suspect that a month, a year or decade will wash away the memory of checking Twitter before I started my daily writing binge, expecting to read a funny post from Michael Ian Black or some fantasy football analysis, but instead finding out that what I had always thought to be so elusive could now never be more so.
