While Kotzen primarily uses his RK5 live in conjunction with his standard amp rig, this compact unit embodies an entire rig on its own. At its heart is the all-analog SansAmp, which makes it possible to go direct to a PA or mixer. For effects, you have the essentials: a reverb, a delay with tap tempo, a powerful boost and Kotzen’s Signature OMG overdrive.
It was a glorious day in Union Square Park on June 21. Just the right kind of weather for hundreds of guitarists to gather and jam for Mass Appeal: Guitars, an annual event that’s part of the Make Music Festival. This year, Acoustic Nation co-hosted the event with the New York City Guitar School and I have to say, it was truly epic.
Tech 21 has introduced the Hot-Rod Plexi pedal. The new pedal is inspired by vintage amps that bear the same nickname. And while those hulking stacks are known to sound best at ear-bleed levels, this pedal can painlessly transform your existing amp without pulling a muscle or mandatory rig cranking.
Tech 21 has begun shipping a deluxe version of their popular Blonde pedal from the SansAmp Character Series through their Private Stock division. Last year, a deluxe version of their Liverpool pedal sold out quicker than anticipated, and caused a flurry of requests to create a Blonde Deluxe next. Quantities are limited and available directly through Tech 21 only.
