To say I’m thrilled to see Orianthi on the cover of the April 2013 issue of Guitar World is an understatement. But what even I didn't realize (until I dug a bit) was that this is only the third time in Guitar World’s history that a female guitarist has graced this place of honor. The first was Chrissie Hynde in March 1981, followed by Courtney Love in January 1999. That’s more than a decade between covers. So now what?!
Peavey has announced its new line of DC Comics Super Heroes guitars. You can check out all three models in the photo gallery below. Available exclusively from Peavey (under license with Warner Bros. Consumer Products on behalf of DC Entertainment), the new officially licensed instruments will feature Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Lantern and more, in highly detailed artwork on guitars, percussion instruments and accessories.
Some people consider the Winter NAMM Show the musical-instrument Super Bowl. It's a time for instrument manufacturers and other companies to unveil their new product lines. It's also a time when some of the best musicians in the world head to Anaheim, California, to rock out, share their passion for music and jam with their peers.
Great White were among the last hard rock acts to hit it big in the Eighties, just before grunge changed the sound and direction of popular music. Emerging from the Hollywood club scene, they had their commercial breakthrough with 1987’s Once Bitten album, then scored their biggest hit with their 1989 version of the Ian Hunter song “Once Bitten, Twice Shy.”
