During last week's 2014 Winter NAMM Show, the Guitar World crew visited the always-popular Taylor Guitars booth. In our video, which you can check out below, Andy Powers tells us about the company's new T5z model, the T5Z Classic and the Custom Grand Symphony model.
Tanglewood Guitar Company UK, the United Kingdom’s best-selling acoustic guitar brand, introduced its Java range of guitars to North America at the NAMM Show. The instruments feature solid cedar tops, but it's the spectacular exotic timber combination used on the backs and sides that truly makes them stand out from the mid-priced guitar crowd.
Like the original T5, the T5z boasts incredible tonal versatility, enabling players to shift from pristine acoustic to growling electric with the flip of a five-way switch. The difference is a scaled-down body size and a fretting experience that will feel familiar to electric players.
Aluminum Bronze strings give acoustic players a new and improved voice that hasn't been previously available. We really think players are going to respond to the gain in projection, clarity and note separation.
C. F. Martin & Co. continues to revisit its historic roots by further enhancing stylistic and technical innovations from some of their best vintage models from past decades including the '20s, '30s, '40s and '60s.
New models will include third in Custom Shop collaborative series with Martin signature artist Eric Clapton. "We are very fortunate to be unveiling the next signature edition in our ongoing collaboration with longtime Martin player Eric Clapton," said Chris Martin, Chairman and CEO, C.F. Martin & Co. "Martin Guitar GM Fred Greene and the Custom Shop team are proud of its excellent history creating some of the most exceptional guitars in the market, and partnering with some of the most illustrious players in the world."
