Last night at Revolver and Guitar World's 2nd Annual Rock & Roll Roast, a host of rockers and comedians took aim at Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider, firing a nonstop barrage of barbs and one-liners that would make an ordinary man cry. But, as last night's endless stream of insults and anecdotes made perfectly clear, Snider is not a normal man.
Last time, we kicked off this series of Brewtality columns by going over some basic, but essential, stuff and learning how to play the A minor pentatonic scale (A C D E G) all over the neck. We did this by learning the five fretboard patterns shown in FIGURE 1.
In this classic entry from his "Brewtality" column, Zakk Wylde shows you some essential minor-pentatonic runs. To kick things off, let’s start with some basics by looking at the minor-pentatonic scale and how it covers the whole neck. To keep things simple, we’ll stay in the key of A minor for now.
Next up is WWE superstar Chris Jericho, who learned that comedy isn't always easy, especially when you're staring down a man who looks like a cross between a viking and a Hell's Angel. Watch Jericho body slam (metaphorically speaking) Zakk Wylde in the video below.
For those of you who missed Guitar World's Rock & Roll Roast of Zakk Wylde, which took place in January at The Grove in Anaheim, California, worry not! We're in the process of bringing you as much footage as possible from that night. In fact, here's comedian Jim Norton's segment of the Roast, which features some great one-liners, including, "What an amazing collection of people. If a bomb went off right now, the record industry would lose exactly $500 next year."
While they couldn't make it in person, Steel Panther couldn't turn down the opportunity to let Zakk Wylde have it at the first-ever Guitar World Rock and Roll Roast back in January. The boys in Steel Panther sent in a video roast for Zakk, which is NSFW, to say the least. Check it out below.
