Guitar Center has launched the sixth annual Battle of the Blues competition. Aspiring blues guitarists can sign-up at any Guitar Center location across the country to enter for the chance to win more than $50,000 in prizes which includes $25,000 cash, gear from Gibson, Epiphone, Egnater, Shure, Ernie Ball and Boss, plus studio time with Grammy Award-winning producer Pete Anderson.
Joe Bonamassa's next album, Driving Towards The Daylight, will be out May 22. Among the guest stars are Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford and Whitford's son, Harrison, also a guitarist. Other guests include guitarists Pat Thrall and Blondie Chaplan, drummer Anton Fig, bassists Michael Rhodes and Carmine Rojas and keyboard player Arlan Schierbaum.
Today, Garbage posted a music video for their new single, "Blood For Poppies," after a Ustream chat with fans. "Blood For Poppies" is the first single from the band's new album, Not Your Kind Of People, which is due out May 15 on the band's own STUNVOLUME record label.
Candlelight Records has confirmed June 19 as the North American release date for Eremita, the fourth album from Norwegian-born vocalist/guitarist Ihsahn. Recorded and produced at Telemark’s Ivory Shoulder Studios, with additional tracking at Notodden’s Juke Joint Studio and Seattle’s Envisage Audio, Eremita was mixed by Jens Bogren (Opeth) at Fascination Street Studios in Orebo, Sweden.
France's Gojira have announced L'Enfant Sauvage (which roughly translated from French means "The Wild Child") as the title of their forthcoming new album. The record is slated to drop on June 26 via the band's new home, Roadrunner Records.
