At the 2012 Winter NAMM show in January, Radial Engineering's Peter Janis gave us an overview of the company's brand-new Radial Firefly. The Firefly is a direct-Input box that's used to run your guitar sound straight into the house mixing console during live shows -- complete with its own built-in tube. Metal long-running monster freakshow Gwar have officially started work on a new album. While the band are currently on the road with Municipal Waste, they issued a statement assuring fans that, while there is no release date yet, there will be a new Gwar album.
A video has been making the rounds today featuring Kurt Cobain's isolated vocal track from "Smells Like Teen Spirit," taken from Nirvana's seminal 1991 album, Nevermind. While it's not exactly new (it's been up since 2010,) it's still a cool find, and you can listen in the video below.
Led Zeppelin's December 10, 2007, reunion concert at London’s O2 Arena -- a show that saw three aging rock legends revisiting their storied past -- will have a significant impact on future musicians. Proceeds from the event, which was staged as a tribute to the late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, make up most of the $45 million being donated by Ertegun’s widow, Mica Ertegun, to Engand's Oxford University. The donation, the largest in the University’s 916-year history, will be used to kick off the Mica and Ahmet Ertegun Graduate Scholarship Programme in the Humanities.
