Eddie Van Halen's "Frankenstein Replica" guitar, which recently acquired by the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History in Washington D.C., is now on display as part of the National Treasures of American Pop Culture Collection. The guitar -- also known at "Frank 2" -- was built in 2006 by Fender in a joint effort with Van Halen in order to produce a precise replica of the guitar that Eddie built himself back in the mid '70s.
On August 14, the Iridium Jazz Club in New York will air a never-before-broadcast Les Paul memorial show on their Livestream channel. The concert, which was filmed in 2009 at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, features Zakk Wylde, Charlie Daniels, Steve Miller and more. While a lot of fans miss ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante, one may have taken it a little too far. According to RollingStone.com, Frusciante has filed a request for a protective order against a female fan who has aggressively pursued the guitarist about making a film about his life.
The big story over the last few days has been the rioting in London, with hundred of young people looting shops and setting fire to cars and buildings. In a recent interview with Rocksound.tv, Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine weighed in on the youth in London, er, raging against the machine.
