Monday, June 6, Charlie Benante from Anthrax stopped by Guitar World HQ to play us some new songs from the band's long-awaited new album, Worship Music. A few lucky staffers got to hear three fully mixed songs and a couple of rough mixes, not to mention check out a miniature version of the album art on Charlie's iPhone. As previously reported, Machine Head are in the studio finishing up the recording of their as-yes-untitled new studio album. An official release date has now been confirmed, and the follow-up to 2007's The Blackening will be released on Sept. 27 via Roadrunner Records.

NASA Astronaut Michael Fossum, on his way to the International Space Station aboard the Russian Soyuz TMA-02M spacecraft from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhastan, is treating his fellow astronauts and cosmonauts to an appropriate sneak preview of a track from ZZ Top’s still-untitled upcoming album.
Yesterday, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry wrote on his Twitter account that the "whole band has plans to go into the studio with [producer] Jack Douglas second week of July to work on new Aerosmith CD."
Mötley Crüe are launching their summer tour tonight, June 7, in Dallas. This tour has an unusual spin to it, however: For the first time, the band have called on their fans to decide everything, from the support acts (Poison and the New York Dolls) to the songs.
