Computers have become the de facto platform for recording music, but the average PC is far from specialized for the task. PCs and Macs are designed for general computer functions and have a multitude of features and software programs that are unrelated to the endeavor of making music. Furthermore, you can spend a bundle of cash adding audio interfaces, monitors and recording programs to your computer, not to mention plug-ins for effects, amp emulations, instrument libraries and so on.
We’re still in the process of writing and arranging, but we’re set to record in February. We’ve been writing since we finished recording [2011’s] The Discovery, so there’s definitely plenty of material. We’re sending the songs that we’ve completed back and forth with our team and getting everyone’s ideas and input to see how they can grow. Hopefully, the album will come out right around summertime.
In 1997, Ricky Skaggs launched Skaggs Family Records and created an in-house organization, including his recording studio, Skaggs Place, in order to take full control of his career. Drawing on the heritage of the original ‘Pics Only,’ which was launched in 1972, the OR100 has applied the best of the original features in terms of tone, construction and design and added new technology to improve the amp.
