Seriously, no mention of Justin Hawkins from The Darkness?

I know they weren't the biggest band ever, but seriously?

That Hendrix video kinda blows lol Whoever tried to sync it failed

When Rick Emmet sings he beats all of them for sure. Billy Gibbons is awesome as is Chuck Berry a true original. This list sucks harder than Monica Blewinsky

jimmynick

Rory Gallagher. Big miss.

shannonleigh

Zakk Wylde. Chuck Schuldiner of Death. If you count bassists, Les Claypool should be on there for sure.

Lists always bring comments, don't they?

It should be illegal to publish lists based on opinions. That's how Internet wars start. :-) It should also be illegal to publish lists of even numbers. Why not 13 or 11 or 9 or 48 or 52?

patriotpizzaman

48 and 52 are even numbers dude. Good idea though. I'd favor a top 27 list for a change of pace on these opinion based lists.

denny_anderson

The late great GARY MOORE!!! Come on people.

denny_anderson

Dave Meniketti anyone? Phenom guitarist, amazing vocalist, so underrated. This list is compiled by guitarists, right?

avatar

uli_sloth

Thank you for this, Dave is one the first guys I had in mind when I was typing out my comment. A truly great American rock singer, and more than just typical rhythm guitar frontman abilities.

Jack White?!? Please...Where are Gilmour, Emmett, and most importantly, Warren Haynes!!!! This is just a popularity list. Not the TOP FRONTMEN list. Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley...the list goes on...

avatar

danmar

One would think that limiting themselves to 10 they'd get the best people in it but this looks like part of a list of the 100 best. :-)

Um, Sammy Hagar, Rickey Medlocke, Steve Lukather, Pat Travers, Tommy Shaw, Gary Moore (even if his singing chops are maybe dubious,) Peter Green, Billy Gibbons and Rik Emmett all spring to mind if you wanna be serious about this.

I mean just pick the usual suspects as it sells, I guess - and as that is your business, I have no complaints about it.

But c'mon you say an outstanding voice is a must? Cobain, Mustaine or Hetfield -and good luck to them for their respective success - barely count as singers, let alone great ones.

Dare to be different.. hey it might even sell! : )

Aniruddha Biswas

Hey Hughami,
Frontman = The person who steals all attention & puts the stage on fire. Garry Moore & Billy Gibbons are well known but not so great frontmen. Your favourite Sammy Hagar, Rickey Medlocke, Steve Lukather, Pat Travers, Tommy Shaw, Peter Green and Rik Emmett are better known to be the C***s your momma sucks. And you are the motherf*** who looked back (just after birth) at your momma's "privates" & started to "play with your dingdong (the thing b/w your legs)".
What do you know about James Hetfield you bloody "put each & every slang you know".

avatar

hughami

hmm, is this you way of asking me out on a date? I can feel the love! : )

avatar

Aniruddha Biswas

Hughami, you might be a bloody gay; thus you wanna date a man. But for your kind info I am not a gay. I just wanna put a "Squier" guitar (I don't wanna waste any Gibson, Fender, Ibanez, ESP, PRS, Jackson or Dean)in your ass for critisizing Hetfield & Mustaine. They have more Signature gears, bigger & more worldwide shows, more fans, more money cause they are way better than your fav musicians. They are the pioneers of the most popular genere, i.e., METAL.

avatar

Dawgboy2

He should at least offer dinner and a movie! Us old guys love dinner and a movie... ;-)

avatar

Aniruddha Biswas

Dawgboy2, why are you supporting Hughami? Are you a bloody gay like him?

avatar

eric_millington

Steve Marriot? yes deffo. Jack White? errr, no!

Actually, where the hell is Frank Marino! I thought you guys were guitarists!

avatar

danmar

Nah! They just sell magazine advertising.

Any list with this title that doesn't include Chuck Berry is an automatic fail. He was only the first singer, songwriter, frontman guitar playing poet who not only invented verse, chorus verse but most of the vocabulary wether it be lyrically, vocally, or sonically with a guitar that everyone uses today. I could easily list 50 people that could be on here (Gilmour, Knopfler, Petty, Reznor, Koda, Erikson, ect), but not one person above could be listed without Chuck. He is the one and only true king of rock n roll. Ps. Elvis is my cousin, and he sucks. Straight from the family. Live with it.

jefffos

Thank you, very well said. Chuck is the true King of Rock, Elvis was a fraud and ripoff. No offense...

avatar

Nostradumbass

Maybe not on this list, but perhaps an honorable mention would be Myles Kennedy (yes, he is a guitarist, as well).

Wouldn't mind seeing Claudio Sanchez on here, either.

And Jack White? Really, guys? How much did he pay you for this?

avatar

Triad999

Neil Young, Claudio Sanchez, Dave Matthews, DAVID GILMOUR!!!!!, Mark Knopfler, FRANK freakin ZAPPA!!!! the failure of this list goes on ...and on.

avatar

Triad999

I like the inclusion of Steve Marriotte but hey what about Rik Emmet from Triumph, John Lennon, Zakk Wyld, And the moost obvious failure here CHRIS CORNELL!!! (if you don't think he plays guitar you obviously havn't ever seen Soundgarden) and dozens of others more prominant in rock than hallf of the guys you placed here. (God I hate Jack White!) You guys have stop making these lists ...it makes you look bad!

avatar

danmar

I think lists are intentionally designed to rile people up and increase site activity. In fact when letters to the editor start dwindling they publish a list to get the numbers back up. I'm speculating here. :-)

avatar

Triad999

Yes I'd buy that as well. I'm not riled I'm just very ...VERY disapointed in these magazine guys.
