I hadn't heard that Rod Stewart song before. Sounds like it could have been an Aerosmith song. He has a Steven Tyler sound when he's singing that style.

what about when he recorded with Sanley Clarke?

Jeff played a GREAT solo on Buddy Guy's version of Mustang Sally. Absolutly smokin.
Also his playing on Manic Depression with Seal on the tribute to Hendrix

He also does a pretty great cover of Little Wing... not that it would qualify on this list

As for the question "what would pink floyd sound like if Jeff Beck were in the band?" Answer: Not near as good as they did with David Glimor.

People Get Ready?

That doesn't qualify because this list is about Jeff Beck's "studio appearences". The version of People Get Ready that you are referring to was from an actual Jeff Beck album (Flash). ;)

Where is the most obvious track? Sunshine Superman with Donavan. He really juiced things up on that tune. Otherwise a fine choice of tunes.

There was a track he played on a Tina Turner album in the Eighties, I believe it was "Steel Claw"; in a nutshell, his solo was SMOKIN'!!!The song itself was forgetable, but the solo, Woo Hoo!

This stuff put together has a lot of different emotions of playing. Its funny how someone can appear to build music the way Beck does. He has always been the lonely magnum in a constellation of genres. His playing has always giving the illusion of others. When there’s only Beck we have to tell ourselves what he has been doing. Because this will tell how his next choice of chords will feel to us.

I really grew up listening to Live. That guitar works still the pinnacle the highest point the culmination of his master pieces.

Very nice collection but I highly recommend everyone get the Roger Waters 'Amused to Death' album - there is more Jeff Beck tastiness beyond this song. At least go to YouTube and listen to the coloring he adds on 'Ballad for Bill Hubbard' followed by his greatness throughout 'What God Wants Part 1'.

blaze of glory?

Agreed! I thought for sure that would be there. That was a massive song, iconic solo. And the story about Jon almost going in to tell him it wasn't what he was looking for and then thinking "Holy shit, this is Jeff Beck, who the eff am I to tell him that?" and left it. Definitely missing off this list

I was surprised not to see Blaze of Glory here...

Fantastic solo - I cite that as the main reason for liking that song and point it out to folks a lot.
