Interview: Guitarist Desiree Bassett Talks Cirque Du Soleil's Michael Jackson Immortal World Tour

Throughout his career, Michael Jackson employed an endless series of amazing guitar players for studio and stage work, including Eddie Van Halen, Slash, Jennifer Batten and Steve Lukather. In 2009, Jackson was set to embark on his "This Is It" tour, which would've consisted of some 50 shows kicking off that summer and ending the following spring. Unfortunately, Jackson's tour would never take place; he died of cardiac arrest on June 25, 2009, at age 50.

Rex Brown knows a thing or two about bass. The man has been pounding out well-known, monstrous basslines for close to 30 years, ever since Pantera's first record, Metal Magic, in 1983. Brown, who was inspired to play bass by Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones and Geezer Butler, teamed up with like-minded musicians Vinnie Paul, Terry Glaze and Dimebag Darrell in 1982. Phil Anselmo joined the band in 1987, forming what would be considered Pantera's classic lineup.

On Tuesday, March 13, Van Halen rolled into Manchester, New Hampshire, and played to a packed house at the Verizon Wireless Arena. The city was taken over by Van Halen fever. Every bar I walked into was packed to the gills, cranking stuff like “Drop Dead Legs" from 1984.

Mashup: Meshuggah Meets Def Leppard in "Pour Some Meshuggah On Me"

To celebrate the upcoming release of Meshuggah's new album, Koloss, which is due March 26 via Nuclear Blast Records, some of my Boston-based friends made a video that is getting a lot of reaction out of people. It's called "Pour Some Meshuggah On Me." The video is a musical mash-up combining Meshuggah-style riffing with Def Leppard's hit "Pour Some Sugar On Me."
