Van Halen aren't doing much in the way of press around the release of their new album, A Different Kind of Truth, but the L.A. Times managed to track down frontman David Lee Roth to talk about his first new album with the band in nearly three decades. A few excerpts follow.

This week saw more hype leading up to Van Halen's new album, A Different Kind of Truth, with three clips of new songs appearing online (four if you count a preview on Amazon. We also got new tracks from Adrian Smith's Primal Rock Rebellion, Soulfy, Pelican and Korpiklaani.
If you were one of those that cried foul over "Stay Frosty" not being quite heavy enough for your tastes, then check out the below clip of another new track, "China Town." So far, this is easily the heaviest thing we've heard from A Different Kind of Truth, bordering on straight-ahead metal.
Amazon's UK website is now hosting a clip of yet another new Van Halen track, "The Trouble With Never," which is set to appear on their upcoming new album, A Different Kind of Truth. Head here to listen.
Continuing to build momentum toward the February 7 release of their new album, A Different Kind of Truth, Van Halen have posted another 90-second clip of a new track. Scroll down to listen to a minute and a half of a bluesy number called "Stay Frosty."
Most of the updates include EVH's Wolfgang USA series of guitars and the 5150-III amp. The Wolfgang now offers flame maple tops, plus ebony fingerboards on five of the eight available models. They're all available with Floyd Rose or double-locking hard-tail.
